Algumas figurações da Idade Média na literatura portuguesa infantojuvenil

Abstract

A presença da História na Literatura Portuguesa para a Infância e a Juventude tem vindo a consubstanciar-se diversamente ao longo dos tempos. Os propósitos da ficção histórica, bem como os seus diferentes níveis ou filiação no real variam consoante o contexto histórico-cultural, testemunhando o espírito do(s) tempo(s). Em Portugal, depois de superada a escrita marcadamente ideologizante ou propagandística do Estado Novo (1926-1974), espartilhada inclusive por Instruções sobre Literatura Infantil (1950) e focada na conformação de uma «determinada», ostensivamente intencional, identidade nacional, nos anos 80 e 90 do século xx, os acontecimentos e as figuras históricas ganharam uma outra espessura, um rosto mais humano, para, já no século xxi, incluir algumas recriações emolduradas pela paródia, por exemplo. Autores como Alice Vieira (Lisboa, 1943), em particular, no domínio da novela juvenil, Luísa Ducla Soares (Lisboa, 1939) e José Jorge Letria (Cascais, 1951), na narrativa em verso ou no conto, ou Inácio Nuno Pignatelli (Porto, 1950), no texto dramático, entre outros, integram o grupo de autores que têm seguido a linha que vimos de enunciar. Na sua produção literária, os elementos/signos da Idade Média Portuguesa (séc. xi-xv) ganham um espaço relevante. Neste estudo, revisitaremos, assim, um conjunto de obras selecionadas que enformam um corpus textual contemporâneo no qual é possível encontrar distintas figurações da referida época e concluir acerca da relevância concedida, por exemplo, a D. Afonso Henriques e a D. Dinis, imagens simbólicas e centrais na memória coletiva portuguesa.

The presence of History in Portuguese Children’s and Youth Literature has been consubstantiated in different ways over time. The purposes of historical fiction, as well as their different levels or affiliation with reality vary according to the historical-cultural context, bearing witness to the spirit of the time(s). In Portu gal, after overcoming the markedly ideologizing or propagandistic writing of the Estado Novo (1926-1974), even constrained by Instruções sobre Literatura Infantil [Instructions on Children’s Literature] (1950) and focused on the conformation of a «determined», ostensibly intentional, national identity, in the 1980s and 90s of the 20th century, events and historical figures gained a new thickness, a more human face, to, in the 21st century, include some recreations framed by parody, for example. Authors such as Alice Vieira (Lisbon, 1943), in particular, in the field of juvenile novels, Luísa Ducla Soares (Lisbon, 1939) and José Jorge Letria (Cascais, 1951), in verse or short story narratives, or Inácio Nuno Pignatelli (Porto, 1950), in the dramatic text, among others, are part of the group of authors who have followed the line we have just enunciated. In their literary production, the elements/signs of the Portuguese Middle Ages (11th -15 th centuries) gain a re levant place. In this study, we will thus revisit a set of selected works that form a contemporary textual corpus in which it is possible to find different figurations of the referred period and conclude about the relevance granted, for example, to D. Afonso Henriques and to D. Dinis, central and symbolic images in the Portuguese collective memory
