Estudo etnomatemático sobre danças folclóricas: construção e implementação pedagógica de tarefas matemáticas

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação centra-se no desenvolvimento de um estudo etnomatemático sobre danças folclóricas, e no seu aproveitamento para o ensino da matemática, através da construção e implementação pedagógica de tarefas matemáticas, acompanhadas por recomendações pedagógicas, que visam a sua futura aplicação generalizada. Os objetivos desta investigação são, por um lado, analisar e compreender aspetos matemáticos inerentes a três elementos que constituem danças folclóricas do Norte de Portugal e da Galiza - a coreografia, a música, e os acessórios (Ribas, 1983) -, e por outro lado, construir tarefas matemáticas relacionadas com o estudo etnomatemático realizado sobre as danças. Considerando os objetivos expostos, as questões de investigação que norteiam este estudo são: (I) Que formas e transformações geométricas estão presentes na coreografia de danças folclóricas do Norte de Portugal e da Galiza?; (II) Que padrões repetitivos caracterizam a estrutura de músicas que acompanham danças folclóricas do Norte de Portugal e da Galiza?; (III) Que padrões geométricos estão presentes nos trajes usados por grupos folclóricos do Norte de Portugal e da Galiza?; (IV) Que semelhanças e diferenças existem entre danças folclóricas do Norte de Portugal e da Galiza no que refere aos elementos da dança estudados?; (V) Que tarefas matemáticas é possível construir tendo por base os aspetos matemáticos identificados nos elementos das danças folclóricas estudados?; e (VI) Que recomendações pedagógicas devem acompanhar as tarefas matemáticas construídas? Constituem objeto de estudo etnomatemático, ao nível da coreografia, da música, e dos acessórios, danças características de dois grupos folclóricos: um do Norte de Portugal e outro da Galiza. Por se pretender o estudo de um elemento fundamental da cultura de dois grupos folclóricos - as danças -, a estratégia de investigação usada no primeiro objetivo do estudo aproxima-se da etnografia. A identificação de aspetos matemáticos presentes nas dançasfunda a base para a construção de tarefas matemáticas, a implementar em sala de aula. Ao nível deste segundo objetivo, a estratégia de investigação utilizada é o design-based research. Do desenvolvimento deste trabalho de investigação resultou, para além da descoberta de diversos aspetos matemáticos na coreografia, na música e nos acessórias de danças folclóricas, conjuntos de tarefas matemáticas destinadas ao 6.º, 7.º, e 8.º anos de escolaridade, relacionadas com os elementos da dança estudados. A aplicação dessas tarefas em sala de aula fundamenta a elaboração de recomendações pedagógicas, que poderão constituir um importante suporte para a aplicação das tarefas noutros contextos de ensino.

This research work focuses on the development of an ethnomathematical study on folk dances, and on its use for mathematics teaching, through the design and pedagogical implementation of mathematical tasks, accompanied by pedagogical recommendations, aiming at their future general application. The objectives of this investigation are, on the one hand, to analyze and understand mathematical aspects inherent to three elements that constitute folk dances from the North of Portugal and Galicia - choreography, music, and accessories (Ribas, 1983) -, and on the other hand, to design mathematical tasks related to the ethnomathematical study carried out on dances. Considering the above objectives, the research questions that guide this study are: (I) What geometric shapes and transformations exist in the choreography of folk dances from the North of Portugal and Galicia?; (II) What repetitive patterns characterize the structure of songs that accompany folk dances from the North of Portugal and Galicia?; (III) What geometric patterns exist in the costumes dressed by folk groups from the North of Portugal and Galicia?; (IV) What similarities and differences exist between folk dances from the North of Portugal and Galicia with regard to the dance elements studied?; (V) What mathematical tasks can be designed based on the mathematical aspects identified in the elements of the folk dances studied?; and (VI) What pedagogical recommendations should accompany the designed mathematical tasks? The objects of ethnomathematical study, in terms of choreography, music, and accessories, are characteristic dances of two folk groups: one from the North of Portugal and the other from Galicia. As we intend to study a fundamental element of the culture of two folk groups - the dances -, the research strategy used in the first objective of the study is close to ethnography. The identification of mathematical aspects presented in the dances grounds the design of mathematical tasks, to be used in the classroom. In terms of this second objective, the research strategy used is design-based research. From the development of this research work resulted, beyond the discovery of various mathematical aspects in choreography, music and accessories of folk dances, sets of mathematical tasks for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, related to the dance elements studied. The application of these tasks in the classroom grounds the elaboration of pedagogical recommendations, which may constitute an important support for the application of the tasks in other teaching contexts.
