(Re)habitar hoje um espaço de ontem: (Re)pensar a casa em tempos de pandemia

Abstract

Este estudo explora a relação entre a habitação e o habitante tendo em conta as necessidades do homem contemporâneo face a uma situação pandémica, como a que estivemos sujeitos, no caso do Covid-19. O modo como se habita a casa, sofre fatalmente alterações, impondo funcionalidades especificas no espaço doméstico, por força da sua utilização quotidiana mais intensiva. Um mesmo espaço poderá servir para lazer e trabalho, acarretando uma maior partilha e cruzamento de interesses diversos. Torna-se, assim, mais imperativo o papel da sua arquitetura no repensar, propor e solucionar destes novos problemas emergentes. Recorrendo à intervenção de um edifício abandonado – a Casa Nazareth, ressalta- se a importância de adaptarmos o pré-existente às necessidades das vivências atuais, por exemplo: o confinamento e o teletrabalho consequentes de uma pandemia. Deste modo, a primeira parte fundamenta-se no estudo iniciado por investigadores da Universidade do Minho que expõe os problemas na procura de soluções, para posteriormente, ao fazer-se o reconhecimento do objeto de estudo, conjuntamente com o lugar onde se integra, compreender e intervir de forma a preservar a memória do mesmo, mas repensando a sua organização e funcionalidade interior. Na segunda parte, faz-se uma aplicação prática do modelo teórico apresentado em “Striving for our own spot while avoiding the embrace of the other. An architectural problem of today “(RODRIGUES), onde se sugere uma solução que se pretende flexível e que agilize a rotina dos possíveis habitantes na casa. Assim, este trabalho procura evidenciar a importância do papel do arquiteto numa sociedade em constante mutação, propondo uma reflexão sobre a necessidade de intervir no espaço da casa para responder aos problemas da domesticidade contemporânea e precaver possíveis situações num futuro próximo.

This study explores the relationship between housing and the inhabitant taking into account the needs of contemporary man facing a pandemic situation, as we were subjected in the case of Covid-19. The way you live the house brings inevitable changes, imposing specific features in domestic space, due to its more intensive daily use. The same space may serve for leisure and work, leading to a greater sharing and crossing of various interests. Thus, the role of architecture in rethinking, proposing, and solving these new emerging problems becomes more imperative. Using the intervention of an abandoned building - Nazareth House - we highlight the importance of adapting the pre-existent to the needs of the current experiences, for example: the lockdown and the telework consequent of a pandemic. In this way, the first part is based on the study initiated by researchers from the University of Minho, which exposes the problems in the search for solutions, so that later, when the recognition of the object of study is made, together with the place where it is integrated, we understand and intervene in order to preserve its memory but rethinking its organization and interior functionality. In the second part, a practical application of the theoretical model presented in “Striving for our own spot while avoiding the embrace of the other. An architectural problem of today “(RODRIGUES), where it is suggested a solution that is intended to be flexible and to speed up the routine of the possible inhabitants in the house. This work highlights the importance of the architect’s role in a constant mutation society, proposing a reflection on the need to intervene in space of the house to respond to the problems of contemporary domesticity and to prevent possible situations in the near future.
