Lodging the Place na manifestação artística de Tadashi Kawamata

Abstract

A partir da análise da obra de Tadashi Kawamata, esta dissertação centra-se em projectos e textos do artista em correlação com outros factos e eventos de igual ou distinta natureza – arquitectónicos, artísticos ou culturais – subjacentes ao contexto histórico, ao pensamento e à postura teórica da época das obras, enquanto instrumento metodológico. Pretende contribuir para a compreensão das mudanças encontradas na condição contemporânea, na sua expressão espacial e social, em função de uma ocupação condicionada pelo factor tempo, através do caso de estudo; House of Veding Machines. O seu objectivo prende-se na reflexão da permanência de uma estrutura habitável sobre uma condição anónima, enquanto pesquisa e conhecimento das especificidades do lugar. Esta pesquisa revelou-se pertinente para um entendimento acerca da forma como se pode habitar o espaço contemporâneo e no (re)posicionamento do sujeito perante o contexto urbano, no seu sentido mais lato, fundamental para a concretização do lugar. Pretende ainda convidar à reflexão e à interpretação da manifestação artística fora das galerias de arte enquanto forma de invasão do espaço privado no domínio público.

Based on the Tadashi Kawamata’s work, this lecture is focused on projects and texts of the artist, correlated with other facts and events of the same or distinct nature - architectonic, artistic and cultural - that is implied in the way of thinking and acting in a determined historical time, as a methodological instrument. Intends contribute for the understanding of several changes found in the contemporary urban condition, in its spacial and social expression, according to a time period, through the case-study of House of Vending Machines. His main gold remains in the reflection to the remaining living structure through an anonymous condition, as a research and knowledge of the places’ specificities. A research has been relevant to an understanding about the form of how can we occupy the contemporary space and in the (re)positioning of the subject before the urban context, in his broadest sense, which is fundamental to the achievement of the place. This same research touches the inside reflection of each one as an artistic manifesto outside the art galleries, in the form of an allowed invasion in the public space.
