Ensaio sobre a residência senhorial fortificada: Torre de Dornelas, Amares

Abstract

O presente trabalho pretende analisar o percurso histórico, morfológico e construtivo da Torre de Dornelas, localizada no lugar de Outeiro, freguesia de Dornelas, em Amares. A investigação expressa a vontade de resgatar a sua narrativa histórica, a partir do discurso disciplinar da arquitetura, constituindo-se um fundo documental e gráfico que materializa a sobreposição de fases construtivas. Apesar de lido como um todo, o conjunto edificado é a imagem resultante das distintas fases de transformação ao longo do tempo, sendo interpretado como síntese quer de várias épocas construtivas, quer de diferentes tipos de arquitetura, mas também através de diferentes estilos arquitetónicos, expressando os valores formais e culturais de cada uma das respetivas épocas de transformação e/ou construção. O significativo interesse deste conjunto edificado advém do seu valor patrimonial, na sua dimensão morfológica e artística, reflexo da sua história e cuja génese poderemos fazer coincidir com a Torre que, apesar de em ruína, continua a ser este imponente marco na paisagem. A escassez de informação documental ou iconográfica relativamente a esta construção tornou necessária a elaboração de uma base sólida de pesquisa bibliográfica sobre casos análogos e a realização dos levantamentos arquitetónico e fotográfico, imprescindível à interpretação material do conjunto. Do cruzamento da informação escrita com a gráfica, resulta a realização de uma cronologia histórico-temporal, que permite a especulação das fases construtivas, tendo por base comparações com edifícios similares. Todas estas formas de representação, são então uma ferramenta fundamental para a apresentação, análise e reconstrução do caso de estudo, tornando possível a sua reconstituição quer a nível tipológico quer a nível morfológico. Em síntese, espera-se com este trabalho de investigação, o reconhecimento da Torre de Dornelas, mas, e acima de tudo, a constituição de um documento de registo e interpretação dos dados materiais e documentais que nos permitem entender a sua complexidade.

The current study intends to analyze the historical, morphological and constructive path of the Torre de Dornelas, located in Lugar do Outeiro, parish of Dornelas, Amares. The investigation expresses the will to rescue its historical narrative, from a disciplinary speech of the architecture, by doing a documentary and graphic background, which materializes the overlap of constructive stages. Although read as a whole, this built structure is a portrait of distinctive transformation phases that occurred over time, being interpreted as a synthesis, either of dissimilar types of architecture but also through different architectural styles, expressing the formal and cultural values of each of the particular era of transformation/construction. The noteworthy interest of this built set arises from the patrimonial value, on its morphological and artistic dimension, reflection of the history and whose genesis can be aligned with the Tower that, although in ruins, still is an imposing milestone in the landscape. The absence of documental and iconographic information relatively to this construction, not only required an elaboration of a solid root of bibliographic research about analogous cases, but also the realization of architectural and photographic surveys, both crucial for the material interpretation of the edification. From the crossing of the written information to the graphic data, results the generation of a chronology equally historical and temporal, which allows the speculation of the constructive stages, always based on comparisons with similar buildings. All of these representative forms are, therefore, a fundamental tool to the presentation, analyses and reconstruction of this study case, permitting, in the topological and morphological level, its reconstitution. On this account, with this investigation work, it is expected the appreciation and recognition of Torre de Dornelas, and, above all, the foundation of a registration document and interpretation of material and documentary information that can allow a better understating of its complexity.
