Filosofia educacional na obra de Agostinho da Silva

Abstract

Este trabalho, intitulado Filosofia educacional na obra de Agostinho da Silva, é a dissertação de Doutoramento em Educação, área de especialização em Filosofia da Educação, de Artur Manso. É constituído por três capítulos, um índice, uma introdução, uma conclusão e um anexo. Na introdução justificam-se os objectivos da investigação, explicando-se a metodologia usada e a forma como é organizado o trabalho. No primeiro capítulo, é feita a apresentação e a classificação da totalidade da obra agostiniana reunida para estudo. No segundo capítulo expõe-se as ideias pedagógicas de Agostinho da Silva, inventariando as suas reflexões sobre a educação escolar e extra-escolar e sobre aquelas que considerou serem figuras modelares da humanidade. Apresentam-se, ainda, as suas reflexões sobre a educação portuguesa, evidenciando, por um lado, os modelos educativos que rejeitou e, por outro, os rumos que apontou, apresentando-se, ainda, aquelas que, em sua opinião, eram as figuras modelares da portugalidade. No terceiro capítulo abordam-se os fundamentos filosóficos das ideias pedagógicas. Num primeiro momento investiga-se a sua reflexão em torno do Conhecimento, do Ser, de Deus e do Mundo, bem como a sua concepção de Homem e a sua visão sócio-económica. Num segundo momento trata-se exclusivamente de Portugal, expondo os núcleos essenciais da especulação que o pensador nos legou sobre a origem, evolução e destino da sua Pátria. Na conclusão elencam-se, capítulo a capítulo, as principais ilações retiradas do trabalho desenvolvido de acordo com os objectivos de investigação previamente demarcados. Quanto à bibliografia, organiza-se em três campos: I. De Agostinho da Silva; II. Sobre Agostinho da Silva; III. Complementar. Anexam-se três documentos. O primeiro é a impressão das últimas dez páginas de um manuscrito ainda inédito de Agostinho da Silva e a fixação do texto. O segundo é a reprodução de uma Circular, assinada por Agostinho, que acompanhou as colecções dos Cadernos, no ano de 1942. Por último, dão-se a conhecer as folhas do livro de termos de abertura e renovação de matrícula do Liceu Rodrigues de Freitas, do Porto, que registam a progressão escolar do pensador ao longo dos anos em que o frequentou.

This work, titled “The Educational Philosophy in the Works of Agostinho da Silva”, is the dissertation for the Doctorate Degree in Education, area of specialization in Philosophy of Education, by Artur Manso. It includes three chapters: a table of contents, an introduction, a conclusion and an attachment. In the Introduction the aims of the investigation are justified, explaining the methodology that is used and the way the work is organised. In the first chapter, the presentation and the classification of the totality of the “Augustinian” work gathered for study is done. In the second chapter the pedagogical ideas of Agostinho da Silva are exposed, making the inventory of his reflections about school and extra school education, and concerning the characters he considered to be the model figures of mankind. His reflections about the Portuguese Education are also introduced, emphasising, on the one hand, the educational models he rejected and, on the other hand the ways he aimed at, introducing, too, those who were, in his opinion, the model figures of the “Portugality”. In the third chapter the philosophical founding of the pedagogical ideas is pointed out. In a first approach his reflection about Knowledge, Being, God and the World, as well as his conception of Man and his socioeconomic vision is investigated. In a second approach we handle with Portugal exclusively exposing the essential nucleus of the legacy of the thinker about the origin, the evolution and the destiny of his homeland. In the conclusion the main illations taken from the development of the work, following the previously chosen objectives, are enumerated chapter by chapter. The Bibliography is organised in three fields: I. From Agostinho da Silva; II. About Agostinho da Silva; III. Complementary. Three documents are attached. The first is the print out of the last ten pages of a manuscript, still unedited, by Agostinho da Silva and the fixation of the text. The second is the reproduction of a circular signed by Agostinho which was included in the collections of the “Cadernos” in the year of 1942. Lastly the pages of the register of the Rodrigues de Freitas High School, in Oporto, where the school progress of the thinker throughout the years he spent there as a student are registered, are shown.
