Bullying na adolescência: causas e comportamentos de alunos portugueses e brasileiros

Abstract

O artigo objetiva analisar razões promotoras do bullying, bem como a maneira como alunos portugueses e brasileiros se posicionam diante do problema e como eles avaliam os encaminhamentos tomados pela escola. A base empírica é uma investigação, de cunho exploratório e de natureza quantiqualitativa, tendo uma amostra aleatória de 235 alunos, matriculados nos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental (7º, 8º e 9º anos), na faixa etária de 13 a 16 anos, procedentes de duas escolas públicas, uma do Brasil, da região oeste catarinense e outra de Portugal, da região Norte, do Minho. Como procedimento de coleta de dados utilizou-se um questionário. As respostas das questões fechadas foram tabuladas com a utilização de uma ferramenta online (Google Docs), enquanto as respostas à única questão aberta foram submetidas a análise do conteúdo. Quanto às razões que promovem o bullying, houve convergência entre as respostas das amostras, tendo prevalecido a menção a variáveis intrapessoais. Sobre o posicionamento em relação ao bullying, a resposta mais indicada pelos alunos brasileiros foi de que se afastam e não se envolvem com o que está acontecendo, enquanto a amostra portuguesa indicou pedir aos agressores que parem com esse tipo de comportamento. Tais atitudes revelam maior empatia e solidariedade por parte da amostra portuguesa, e, também, podem indicar que os alunos da amostra brasileira temem ser as próximas vítimas. O bullying é um problema sério que demanda encaminhamento daqueles que fazem parte do meio escolar e familiar dos educandos.

The aim of this article was to analyze the reasons for bullying, how Portuguese and Brazilian students position themselves, and evaluate the school’s action to solve problem. This is an exploratory and quantitativequalitative research that used a random sample of 235 students, who were attending the last years of elementary school (7th, 8th and 9th grades), aged 13 to 16 years, from two public schools, one from the western Brazilian region of Santa Catarina and one from northern Portuguese region of Minho. A questionnaire was used for the data collection procedure. The answers to the closed questions were tabulated using an online tool (Google Docs) and the open questions were analyzed by the content of the answers. As for the reasons that promote bullying, there was a convergence between the responses of the samples with prevalence to intrapersonal variables. Regarding the perpective of students regarding bullying, the most frequent response of the Brazilian students was that they withdraw and do not get involved with what is happening, whereas the Portuguese sample indicated that they ask the aggressors to stop this type of behavior, which reveals greater empathy and solidarity of the Portuguese sample and may also indicate that the Brazilian students fear being the next victims. Bullying is a serious problem that requires that those involved in the school and family environment of the students take action.
