As pessoas têm existências intermitentes: a morte em três romances de Dulce Maria Cardoso

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como objetivo uma análise crítica de três romances de Dulce Maria Cardoso, Campo de Sangue (2002), Os meus sentimentos (2005) e O chão dos pardais (2009), de modo a evidenciar a presença da morte enquanto acontecimento físico e não físico. Primeiramente, analisar-se-ão os elementos narrativos tais como os títulos, espaço e tempo, que ajudam na construção da mundividência da morte. Em seguida, será estudada a ocorrência física da morte em determinados personagens, sobretudo, os protagonistas. O suicídio também constitui uma fonte de interesse, não só por significar um outro tipo de morte, mas por acarretar intenção e premeditação. Naturalmente, o corpo constitui um núcleo fundamental desta investigação enquanto reflexo da intermitência. A morte será, portanto, analisada sob a perspetiva do corpo grotesco e do corpo belo. No seguimento do estudo do corpo, irei analisar de que forma a solidão, o silêncio e a família contribuem para uma imagem ou estado de morte. Por fim, traço o perfil de três personagens que, ao contrário das restantes personagens que incorporam uma ideia de morte, representam, à sua maneira, uma possibilidade de vida. Em suma, esta investigação pretende contribuir para a leitura de Dulce Maria Cardoso, sobretudo a partir do tópico da morte nos três romances em questão.

The following research aims at a rigorous and critical analysis of three novels by Dulce Maria Cardoso, Campo de Sangue (2002), Os meus sentimentos (2005) e O chão dos pardais (2009) in order to indicate the presence of death as both a physical and non-physical event. Firstly, the narrative elements, such as titles, space and time, that help in the construction of the world of death will be analysed. Secondly, the physical occurrence of death in certain characters, especially the protagonists will be verified. Suicide is also a source of interest, not only it implies another type of death, but because it entails intention and premeditation as well. Naturally, the physical body constitutes an essential core of this investigation as a reflection of intermittency. Therefore, death will be investigated from the perspective of the grotesque and the sublime bodies. Following the study of the body, the manner in which loneliness, silence and family contribute to an image or state of death will be analysed. Lastly, the profile of three characters that, unlike the other characters that incorporate an idea of death, represent a possibility of life of its own. In summary, this research intends to propagate Dulce Maria Cardoso as a writer, especially studying death in the three novels in question.
