Intervir com o construído: proposta de reconversão e requalificação d’O Castelo da Ponte em Vizela

Abstract

Ímpar na realidade onde se insere, o Castelo da Ponte é testemunho de um passado que, embora não muito longínquo, traduz um antigo e conflituoso enredo político, pelo reconhecimento de Vizela enquanto Concelho. Mandado construir por um exímio conterrâneo, nos inícios do século XX, reflete toda a vontade de um povo, mesmo que nunca tenha cumprido a função para o qual fora pensado – ser Paços de Concelho. Perante a sua atual qualidade de abandono e avançado estado de degradação, a presente dissertação de mestrado, Intervir com o Construído: Proposta de Reconversão e Requalificação d’O Castelo da Ponte em Vizela, ancorada numa componente teórica e prática, visa refletir sobre a importância de salvaguardar edifícios emblemáticos devolutos, através de um exercício de projeto específico. Assim sendo, procurando reintegrar este edifício na vida quotidiana local e tendo em conta as atuais necessidades da cidade, propõe-se a sua reconversão e requalificação, com um programa de caráter cultural – espaço museológico e auditório – numa proposta que, para além de recuperar a preexistência, se estende além desta. Desta forma, de modo a minimizar o impacto visual da nova construção e a preservar a identidade do lugar, define-se, como princípio, a conceção de uma arquitetura invisível que se deixa diluir, na paisagem, por entre muros de linguagem depurada.

Unique on the reality it is inserted, the Castelo da Ponte is a testimony to a pass that, while not too far off, translates to an old and conflicted politic plot, for the recognition of Vizela as a municipality. Ordered to be built by an accomplished contemporary, in the early 20th century, it reflects all the will of a people, even if it never fulfilled its original function – be the Town Hall. In face of its actual abandoned state and advanced state of degradation, the current master thesis, Intervene with the Built: Proposal of Reconversion and Requalification of the Castelo da Ponte in Vizela, anchored in a theoretical and practical component, it aims to reflect on the importance of safekeeping vacant emblematic buildings, through the development of a specific project. Thus, while searching to integrate this building in the local daily life and keeping in mind the current city necessities, its reconversion and requalification are proposed, with a cultural theme at its core – museum and auditorium – in a proposal that, apart from recovering the preexistence, goes even further. This way, in order to minimize the visual impact of the new construction and preserving the identity of the place, it is defined, as a guideline, the conception of an invisible architecture which lets itself be diluted, in the landscape, between walls of purified language.
