A cabeça do Baptista (2010): el teatro de Valle-Inclán en Portugal, con la escena gallega como telón de fondo

Abstract

En el año 2010 la Companhia de Teatro de Braga incluía en su programación anual la pieza A cabeça do Baptista, de Valle-Inclán, dirigida por el director de teatro gallego Manuel Guede. A partir del análisis de la propuesta escénica de este montaje teatral, este artículo pretende contribuir a los estudios sobre la recepción dramática y representación escénica del teatro de Valle-Inclán, con especial foco en sus montajes en la escena portuguesa (y también en la gallega). Para lo cual será necesario abordar las relaciones luso-galaicas entre las compañías y agentes teatrales, una vez que esta iniciativa escénica no se puede explicar sin prestar atención al diálogo que se ha producido a ambos lados del río Miño desde los años noventa, y que posibilitó esta adaptación original de La cabeza del Bautista, de factura portuguesa y dirección artística gallega.

In 2010, the Companhia de Teatro de Braga included in its annual program the ValleInclán play A cabeza do Baptista, directed by Manuel Guede, Galician theater director. Based on the analysis of the scenic proposal of this theatrical production, this article intends to contribute to the studies on the dramatic reception and scenic representation of the Valle-Inclán’ theater, with a special focus on its settings in the Portuguese scene (and also in the Galician one). For this purpose, it will be necessary to approach Luso-Galician relations between theater companies and agents, since this scenic initiative cannot be explained without paying attention to the dialogue that has taken place on both sides of the Miño River, since the 1990s, what made possible this original adaptation of A cabeza do Baptista, of Portuguese invoice and Galician artistic direction.
