Intervir na ilha Praça da Alegria: território: sociedade: participação

Abstract

As ilhas são um pedaço de testemunho da urbanização da cidade do Porto. Estas carregam as vidas mais genuínas e antigas da cidade, os seus cidadãos. Hoje em dia, parte deles luta pela sua permanência contra a onda de gentifricação, gerada pelos setores privados e interesses financeiros. Esta trabalho parte de um processo de descoberta da história da ilha Praça da Alegria, passando pela sua interpretação entre passado, presente e futuro. Tendo isto em consideração é proposto um projecto de reabilitação, compreendendo o direito à cidade, e o direito à habitação básica. Trata-se, então, de um incentivo de consciencialização destes lugares, para que não caiam no esquecimento, e venham dar uma resposta aos problemas urbanos e étnicos da cidade do Porto.

Ilhas are a piece of testimony of the urbanization of the city of Oporto. These carry the most genuine and ancient lives of the city, its dwellers. Nowadays, part of them struggle for their permanence against the wave of gentrification, generated by the private sectors and their financial interests. This study starts from a process of discovery of the history of the ilha Praça da Alegria, passing through its interpretation between the past, the present and the future. With this in mind, a rehabilitation project is proposed, including the right to the city and the right to basic housing. It aims to be an incentive to raise awareness of these places, so that they do not fall into oblivion, and come to answer the urban and ethnic problems of the city of Oporto.
