A filosofia confucionista e as sociedades modernas

Abstract

Este trabalho foca-se principalmente em duas culturas bastantes distintas, sendo elas a cultura chinesa tradicional e a cultura moderna, nomeadamente a portuguesa. Apesar de diferentes, ambas as culturas têm apenas algo a ganhar com o intercâmbio de algumas das suas caraterísticas. Tanto a cultura chinesa como a ocidental possuem defeitos que poderiam ser resolvidos, até certo nível, através da troca e aplicação de ideias, costumes e formas de ver a vida. É possível as diferentes culturas do mundo aprenderem umas com as outras de forma a tornaremse mais completas. Podem, de certa forma, complementar-se, pois é raro que toda a sabedoria do mundo se encontre num só sítio. Em relação à cultura chinesa, o alvo de estudo foi o confucionismo, pois ao longo de 2500 anos foi, na China, a filosofia, a ideologia, a tradição que mais influenciou o pensamento chinês, a sociedade chinesa e a sua forma de vida. No que toca à cultura ocidental, o foco principal foi o que se entende ser os pontos mais importantes, os valores mais explícitos e conhecidos em todo o mundo, como a democracia, o capitalismo e o que o Ocidente considera ser justo no que concerne à Lei. Através de longas sessões de troca de informação e ideias, reuniram-se vários dados não apenas em relação ao Ocidente visto através de olhos ocidentais e ao Oriente visto através de olhos orientais, mas também como ocidentais e orientais se percecionam entre si e às suas culturas. Após a pesquisa de variadas opiniões e interpretações sobre este assunto, quer em suporte físico, digital ou presencial verificou-se que não existe um consenso geral, e que bastantes opiniões são realmente antagónicas em relação à possibilidade de intercâmbio de culturas. Este trabalho foi, porém, produzido adotando uma posição positiva, concluindo que o intercâmbio de culturas não só é possível como também é fundamental e algo que traria vantagens para ambos os lados.

This paper is mainly focused in two very distinct cultures, them being the traditional Chinese culture and the modern culture, namely the Portuguese one. Although different, both cultures have only something to gain from the exchange of some of its characteristics. Chinese and western culture alike have faults that could possibly be solved, to a certain extent, through the exchange and execution of ideas, customs and points of view. It is possible for different world cultures to learn from each other with the purpose of becoming more complete. They can, in a certain way, complement one another, because it is rare for all the wisdom in the world to be found in just one place. Regarding Chinese culture, the study target was Confucianism, because for as long as 2500 years it was, in China, the philosophy, ideology, tradition that most influenced Chinese thought, Chinese society and their way of life. Relatively to western culture, the main focus were the characteristics that are perceived as being the most important, the values that are the most explicit and best known throughout the world, such as democracy, capitalism, and the western view of law. After long sessions of interchange of ideas and information, a lot of data was gathered, not only when it comes to the West as perceived by western eyes and the East as perceived by eastern eyes, but also how western and eastern people perceive things among each other and their cultures. After researching many opinions and interpretations about this subject, in paper, digitally and in person, it was verified that a common agreement does not exist, and many opinions are actually antagonistic relatively to the possibility of a cultures exchange. This paper was, however, written by adopting a positive stance, concluding that the interchange of cultures is not only possible, but also essential and something that would bring advantages to both sides.
