The laser welding can be divided in two processes. In this case, it is possible weld by transmission or directly. The first technique is the most widely used technique. The transmission process is based on a main basic principle. In this case, one of the components must be transparent to the laser beam. The other component must have the capability of absorbing the laser beam energy. The injection process needed to be also considered. Since the process has the capability of influence, the final optical properties of the different plastics that will be part of the join. This influence can increase or diminish the mechanical resistance of the seam. This research project had the objective of study the injection and laser welding variables. In this case, determine the variable that has more influence in obtain a good seam. To achieve the main objective, it was used the Taguchi methodology. Firstly, was made the design of experiments with the main variables of the two processes. Following was produced the specimens through the injection process. Then each group of specimens was laser welded and then where mechanical tested. To verified the influence that each variable has on the final quality of the seam. It was used the design of experiments methodology. This methodology used the results obtained in the mechanical tests to determine the variables with more influence. The tests showed that the seam quality is influenced by the two processes. It was possible seen influence from the injection process and laser welding in the final results. The seam with the higher resistance was produced with the following injections conditions. In this case a mold temperature of 25ºC, an injection temperature of 220ºC an injection velocity of 50 mm/s and a cooling time of 15s. The study showed that other variables can also influence the seam quality. The results showed that the nucleation agent with a percentage of 0.15 can also influence the final quality. The specimens with the higher thickness also showed the higher seam resistance. |
