O simbólico educacional da obra pública de José de Guimarães : fundamentos para uma estética do imaginário

Abstract

A arte pública de José de Guimarães abrange e transmite um conjunto simbólico pregnante para a educação da pessoa/público, o qual é fundamentado no que se constitui como uma Estética do Imaginário. Numa leitura interdisciplinar de cariz estético-simbólico, a Estética do Imaginário revelará os contributos da obra pública de José de Guimarães para a formação e autorrealização da pessoa, compreendendo para isso, as particularidades desta obra à luz dos Estudos do Imaginário e da Estética Educacional. Iniciar-se-á pela exposição da forte ligação do artista ao universo do símbolo – patente em cada uma das peças presentes no espaço público desde a Europa, a América e o Oriente. Seguir-se-á na Parte II pela fundamentação da imaginação e do símbolo, os quais serão a matéria educacional e imaginante que tornam esta obra estimulante e passível de ser interpretada pela Filosofia da Educação, no sentido em que a índole simbólica promove a educação do outro. A relação tripla instaurante da arte pública – espaço, público e artista – será refletida em torno da diferença cultural onde o artista intervém. Nesse momento, apontar-se-ão as linhas interpretativas desta arte pública para uma educação estética e antropológica da pessoa. No alinhamento do trabalho, propõe-se na Parte III um Mapeamento Tipológico-Simbólico de toda a arte pública do artista, o qual servirá de guia para a análise identitária e hermenêutica simbólica – baseada sobretudo na obra As Estruturas Antropológicas do Imaginário de Gilbert Durand. Desse mapeamento sobressairá que o imaginário proposto pelo artista é composto por três simbolismos principais: o antropomórfico, o zoomórfico e o botânico. Como tal, pretende-se mostrar na última parte como estes simbolismos podem ser uma via para o indivíduo/público multicultural realizar-se enquanto pessoa (numa vertente da Educação Estética) e constituir o seu “trajeto antropológico do imaginário” (numa vertente dos Estudos do Imaginário). É pela imaginação que o público acede à perceção estética das obras, sendo igualmente através dessa faculdade que compreende os seus simbolismos universais e os apropria inconscientemente, eufemizando a sua relação com o mundo, e conscientemente, adotando os novos lugares como seus. Os públicos desenvolvem a sua sensibilidade estética e criam imaginários mítico-simbólicos e socioculturais que o ligam ao mundo e o ajudam a autorrealizar-se enquanto pessoa. Tais conclusões apresentam-se e delineiam-se simultaneamente por uma Estética do Imaginário, sendo a forma mais completa e credível de mostrar o valor estético e simbólico da arte pública de José de Guimarães para a formação da pessoa/público.

José de Guimarães’s public art conveys a symbolic set for the education of the person/ public, which is based on the aesthetic of the imaginary. From an aesthetic symbolic interdisciplinary lecture, the aesthetics of the imaginary reveals the contributions of José de Guimarães’s public art as far as the formation and self-fulfilment of the person is concerned. For this, the particularities of his work will be analysed from the perspective of the studies of the imaginary and the aesthetical education. The first part of this study will focus on the strong connection of the artist to the universe of the symbol – that can be found in each piece located in public spaces in Europe, America and the Orient. In part II the focus will be on the substantiation of the imagination and the symbol, which will be the educational and imaginary theme, that turns this work stimulating and understandable for the philosophy of education, since its symbolic nature promotes the education of the other. The triple relation in his public art - space, public and artist - is reflected in the cultural difference in which the artist intervenes. At this point there will be brought forward the interpretative lines of this public art for a person's aesthetic and anthropological education. In the third part of this study a typological-symbolic mapping of all the public art of this artist is presented, which will be a guide for the analysis of the symbolic and hermeneutic identity - based mainly on Gilbert Durand's The Anthropological Structures of the Imaginary. In this sense, the imaginary proposed by the artist is composed by three main symbolisms: the anthropomorphic, the zoomorphic and the botanic. The last part of this study tries, therefore, to show how this symbolism can be a way for the multicultural individual/public to fulfil themselves as persons (from an aesthetical educational point of view) and make their “anthropological way of the imaginary” (from an imaginary study perspective). It is through imagination that the public has access to the aesthetical perception of the works, as well as it enables them to understand their universal symbolism. Unconsciously the public internalises them, whereby relation with the world will be an euphemism. Consciously the public will adopt the new places as their own. The public will also develop its aesthetic sensitivity and create mythic symbolic and socio cultural imaginary settings which bound them to the world and help them achieve self-fulfilment as a person. These conclusions are presented through an aesthetic of the imaginary, being this way the most complete and credible to display the aesthetic and symbolic value of José de Guimarães’s public art in the shaping of the person/public.
