Reinserção social e diferença de género

Abstract

Esta dissertação tem como principal objetivo analisar, descrever e compreender a perspetiva que reclusos/as e ex-reclusos/as têm em relação aos instrumentos de reinserção social existentes dentro do estabelecimento prisional, tendo em vista a sua inserção social e profissional após o cumprimento da pena, aferindo se existem variações associadas a diferenças de género. Tomando a prisão como ponto de coordenada, mas adotando uma abordagem pluridimensional que visa articular o dentro e fora da prisão, pretendemos alcançar alguns objetivos específicos: (1) desvendar a possível existência de diferenças percetíveis nos processos de integração de homens e mulheres, com reflexo no seu sucesso; (2) descortinar a relevância que as redes de sociabilidade têm nos processos de reintegração de homens e mulheres após cumprimento de pena; (3) sinalizar a existência, dentro da prisão, de eventuais diferenças notórias nos processos de preparação para a saída de homens e mulheres. Na tentativa de melhor conhecer esta realidade foram entrevistados oito reclusos/as e oito ex-reclusos/as. Optámos por entrevistas semi-estruturadas, com vista à obtenção de dados comparáveis mas que fosse também impressivos e suscetíveis de análise com base no seu conteúdo. Estamos conscientes de que a compreensão de um fenómeno complexo como é o da reinserção social está para além das ambições deste trabalho. Do ponto de vista da população estudada tem um âmbito limitado, já que apenas abrangeu dezasseis entrevistados. No entanto, ainda que as conclusões não se estendam à população prisional em geral, e seja importante ouvir também outros protagonistas envolvidos na implementação deste processo, acreditamos que as reflexões apresentadas possam contribuir para a reflexão acerca do que é necessário fazer, tanto dentro dos estabelecimentos prisionais como após a saída, para que se possam alcançar melhores resultados nos processos de reinserção social.

The main aim of this dissertation is to analyse, describe and understand the perspective that inmates and ex-prisoners have in relation to the existing instruments of social reintegration within the prison, with a view to their social and professional integration after completion of the sentence, monitoring if there are variations associated with gender differences. Taking the prison as a reference point, but adopting a multidimensional approach which aims to articulate the experiences inside and outside the prison, we want to achieve some specific goals: (1) uncover the possible existence of differences in the processes of integration of men and women, with reflection in their success; (2) understand the relevance that the social networks have in the process of reintegration of men and women after completion of sentence; (3) highlight the existence, within the prison, of any significant differences in the preparation processes for the release of men and women. In an attempt to better understand this reality eight inmates and eight ex-prisoners, males and females, were interviewed. We have conducted semi-structured interviews, to obtain comparable data and, simultaneously, collect insightful content. We are aware that the comprehension of a complex phenomenon such as the social reintegration is beyond the ambitions of this work. Considering the population study, this paper has a limited scope, due to the small sample obtained composed by only 16 respondents. However, although the findings do not represent the general prison population, it is important to listen to other protagonists involved in the implementation of this process. We believe that the findings presented and discussed in this paper are a relevant contribution to the wider reflection on what needs to be done, both in prison and post-release, in order to achieve better results in the process of social reintegration.
