Crowdfunding e resiliência das comunidades: estudo de caso

Abstract

Desde o ano de 2008 que Portugal e o resto da Europa e mundo se encontram numa crise económica. Esta crise levou a que as instituições bancárias se retraíssem e diminuíssem o número de créditos concedidos a empresas e particulares, o que leva a uma dificuldade de investimento nas empresas, não estimulando a atividade económica, o empreendedorismo e o crescimento da percentagem da empregabilidade, quando se trata de empresas. O crowdfunding permite a angariação de financiamento (funding) através de pequenos contributos de um grupo de pessoas (a crowd) com intermédio de uma plataforma na web. Este recurso tem sido cada vez mais utilizado como uma alternativa eficaz aos mecanismos tradicionais de financiamento para projetos que de outra forma não sairiam do papel devido à redução do número de empréstimos atribuídos por parte das instituições bancárias. Com a utilização crescente desta iniciativa em Portugal, é importante reconhecer o seu impacto. Com este trabalho pretende-se estudar o papel que o crowdfunding pode assumir no desenvolvimento da resiliência das comunidades a crises económicas. Através do estudo de caso pretende-se analisar uma iniciativa de crowdfunding para tentar inferir impactos na resiliência das comunidades tendo como resultados a proposta de interligação entre as práticas de crowdfunding e resiliência das comunidades. Por ser um fenómeno recente, existe pouca investigação sobre o assunto, sobretudo estudos portugueses. O trabalho irá ser uma mais-valia no conhecimento sobre a temática com o estudo do crowdfunding e o seu impacto na resiliência das comunidades em contexto de crise económica.

Since the year 2008 that Portugal and the rest of Europe and the world find themselves in an economic crisis. This crisis force the banking institutions to retract and cut the amount of funds given to companies and to privates, which makes difficult for to invest in companies (for companies to invest), prevent them from stimulating the economic activity, entrepreneurship and the growth of the employment rate when it comes to companies. Crowdfunding permits the raising of funds through small contributions of a group of donors (crowd) with the web as its intermediary. This model has been more and more utilized as an effective alternative to the traditional means of funding for projects which otherwise wouldn’t come out from paper due to the reduction of loans given by the banking institutions. With the rising utilization of this initiative in Portugal, it’s important to recognize its impact. This project is meant to analyze the role crowdfunding may take in developing the resilience of communities to economic crisis. Through case study we intend to analyze a crowdfunding initiative to try to infer impact on the resilience of communities having as results the proposed interconnection between crowdfunding practice and resilience of communities. Since this is a recent phenomenon, there is little research on the subject, especially Portuguese studies. The work will be an asset in the knowledge on the subject with the study of crowdfunding and its impact on the resilience of communities in economic crisis context.
