Numa região do país onde predominam as rochas
The laboratory work and the fieldwork are, nowadays, a great resource with a great importance in the teaching of Sciences. So, in the teaching of the subject "Magmatism and Igneous Rocks" of the 11th year, the use of laboratory work and the fieldwork, in an integrated way, has a big importance. In a region of our country where the magmatic rocks predominate in both the natural heritage and built heritage, the field allows a direct observation of the subject under study, and the laboratory also allows the reading of the observed data. Despite the potential that the practical work has in the teaching of sciences, sometimes the teachers practices aren´t the best and this situation can avoid the achievement of the goals of them. Several studies defend that the practical activities suggested by Science books in the schools, are one of the main causes for the failure of teachers practice, with respect of the implementation of practical work, and has been shown that they don’t go and they don’t meet the current trends for Science Education. In this context, in the investigation associated with educational intervention performed with students of 11th grade on the theme "Magmatism and Magmatic Rocks" two studies were developed. The goal of the first study was analyze laboratory activities suggested by the four textbooks of Geology, 11th year, in the subject under study. On the other hand, the goal of the second study was analyze the contribution of the integrated implementation of an activity field based in the model of problem-solving, with a laboratory activity of the type Expect – Observe – Explain – Reflect in the development of skills in the conceptual, procedural and attitudinal areas in the students and also do the research of the students’ opinions about their implementation. In this study, we use some questions before and after the intervention, in which we could test the conceptual knowledge and we also use some observation grids, where we took notes about the behavior and the procedural skills. Besides, it was also applied a questionnaire to get the students’ opinion about the strategy used before. The information we got shows a positive evolution, in the students’ conceptual knowledge and a development of the behaviors and procedural skills. In the students opinion, the strategy we use has a big potential in the teaching of the geosciences. |
