This report corresponds to the internship that I undertook in Escola Secundária de Maximinos (Maximinos High School), Braga, during which I had the opportunity to teach a series of lessons with two 11th grade classes, as well as to develop a set of educational activities in school. Having both a pedagogical and an investigative component, it reports how I organized classes and in them sought to achieve the goals of my internship project, while also containing an investigation that was developed throughout the academic year, which is related to the contents of theme IV of the Philosophy program, " Knowledge and scientific and technological rationality", the one that I had the opportunity to teach. The research I present in these pages reflects on the existence of limits to human knowledge, distinguishing between scientific and philosophical knowledge, and seeking the linkage between them. Special attention was paid to the articulation of these problems in René Descartes and Karl Popper, as the classes were devoted to supervised study of these authors. I sought to investigate, during the teaching practice, if the questioning of knowledge that is made in philosophy contributes to the formation of the independent reasoning of students, concluding that yes, but only to the extent that these contents relate to the rest of the discipline program. This reflection is preceded and framed by considerations on teaching methods of the discipline and its place in the body of knowledge, arguing that the constructivist methodology is best suited to the teaching of philosophy, as it has traces in common with the fundamental assumptions of the discipline, such as seeking the formation of critical and autonomous reasoning of students. This report also notes some of the apparent problems that affect the teaching of philosophy at secondary level, leaving some suggestions for future research. |
