Ciência forense na escola: a motivação para estudar química

Abstract

Este trabalho pretende acima de tudo tornar as aulas de Física e Química mais motivadoras, estimulantes e interessantes para os alunos. Atualmente, os alunos entram na sala de aula entusiasmados com algum episódio de uma série televisiva que viram no dia anterior e colocam sempre várias questões sobre a veracidade das técnicas utilizadas, a rapidez e a credibilidade dos resultados obtidos. Alguns destes cenários são aqui abordados e explorados para introduzir novos conteúdos de Física e Química na sala de aula, com o objetivo de tornar as aulas mais motivadoras, atrativas e estimulantes para os alunos, despertar o interesse pelo estudo da Física e/ou da Química, diminuir a indisciplina dentro da sala de aula e melhorar os resultados à disciplina. Os cenários possíveis são muitos e variados. Aqueles que são aqui abordados estão relacionados com a identificação e avaliação de sólidos e líquidos, a falsificação de óleos alimentares, a caracterização de documentos através da identificação de tintas e/ou o papel, a localização de manchas de sangue e a identificação de fibras têxteis.

The objective of the project presented in this thesis is to make Physics and Chemistry classes more motivating, stimulating and interesting for students. Often our students enter the classroom enthused with an episode of a program they watched on television the day before. They ask their teacher if the methods used by the actors are real, if they provide results so quickly and if we really can believe the results... There is no single response to these questions, sometimes the answer is “yes, it really is possible for science to provide fast and correct answers”, in other cases the programs are little more than science fiction. The situations that are presented in this thesis have been proposed and exploited to introduce new concepts in the classroom in a manner that is intended to make the classes more motivating, attractive and stimulating for the students, to awaken their interest in studying this domain and to improve their understanding of science. The scenes that may be created are many and varied. Those that are presented here are related to the identification and evaluation of solids and liquids, the counterfeiting of edible oils, the characterization of documents by ink and paper analysis, the localization of blood samples and the identification of the chemical nature of textile fibers.
