Um certo olhar: polifonia e modalização na tertúlia radiofónica

Abstract

Este trabalho enquadra-se na área da Análise do Discurso, no âmbito da linguística da enunciação. Tem por objectivo analisar a ocorrência do discurso polifónico, enquanto processo de desdobramento enunciativo que nega a unicidade do sujeito, num corpus oral constituído por oito edições da tertúlia radiofónica Um Certo Olhar, emitidas no último trimestre de 2007 pela Rádio Difusão Portuguesa. Começamos por enquadrar os conceitos de dialogismo, de polifonia e de modalização nos quadros teóricos que tomamos como referência, entre os quais destacamos o conceito de dialogismo em Bakhtine, a teoria polifónica de Oswald Ducrot e outros estudos de autores mais recentes: Catherine Kerbrat-Orecchioni, Jacques Brès, Robert Vion, Alain Rabatel e Jacqueline Authier-Revuz. Procuramos ainda reflectir sobre os valores pragmáticos destas estratégias polifónicas e também reconhecer os dispositivos linguísticos que as configuram. Depois da descrição do corpus no âmbito do conceito de quadro comunicativo em articulação com a noção de género discursivo, procedemos à análise linguística, no último capítulo. Observamos o modo como o discurso polifónico, nas suas diversas vertentes (polifonia, diafonia, modalização, modalidade, discurso relatado) funciona como estratégia argumentativa, passando pela construção da imagem do locutor e dos interlocutores, pela definição e negociação dos papéis comunicacionais e ainda pela construção e preservação das relações interpessoais.

This work belongs to the area of Discourse Analysis, more specifically to the field of enunciation linguistics. It is its purpose to analyse the occurrence of polyphonic discourse, as a process of enunciative unfolding which denies the unicity of the subject, within an oral corpus constituted by eight editions of the radio program Um Certo Olhar, broadcast during the last trimester of 2007 by Rádio Difusão Portuguesa. We start by defining the concepts of dialogism, polyphony and modalisation within the theoretical frames of reference, among which we emphasise Bakhtine’s concept of dialogism, Oswald Ducrot’s polyphonic theory, as well as studies by other more recent authors: Catherine Kerbrat-Orecchioni, Jacques Brès, Robert Vion, Alain Rabatel and Jacqueline Authier-Revuz. We also attempt to reflect on the pragmatic values of the above polyphonic strategies, as well as to recognize the linguistic devices configured by them. After the description of the corpus within the concept of communicative frame in articulation with the notion of discursive genre, we undertake a linguistic analysis in the last chapter. We observe how polyphonic discourse, in its diverse aspects (polyphony, diaphony, modalisation, reported speech) functions as an argumentative strategy, taking into consideration the construction of the image of the speakers and the definition and negotiation of communicational roles, as well as the construction and preservation of interpersonal relationships.
