aspetos do desenvolvimento emocional.
Considering that current research highlights the role of well-being in the development and learning of children, that playing reveals an enormous potential to promote learning with joy and commitment, that the methods of relaxation create psychic and physical conditions conducive to a state of well-being, and that publications reflecting investigations about childhood relaxation-based methods interventions are rare, the main objective of this research work was to evaluate the effects of a playful intervention based on relaxation methods on the well-being of children at preschool and primary school ages. It is a mixed investigation, using quantitative and qualitative methods. It brings together three studies: a systematic literature review, a descriptive and exploratory study, and a third with a quasi experimental design, with a group subject to intervention and a control group, with pre and post intervention evaluation in both groups. This design was applied to pre-school education and primary school. Semi-structured interviews were used with the teachers and the focus group technique was used with the children. The group of participants was coincident in the different studies, with the participation of 112 children, aged between three and 11 (M= 6,76; SD=2,4), 58.9% of whom were female and 41, 1% male. Of the 112 children, 43.8% attend pre-school education and 56.3% attend the 3rd and 4th year of schooling. Interventions based on relaxation methods in the school environment were identified, with children in pre-school and primary school education, in a perspective of promoting health and well being. We characterized the well-being levels of the children participating in the study, concluding that the majority have good sleeping and physical activity habits, stating that they really enjoy being at school. From the analysis of the intervention related data, we concluded that the children improved the capacity for passive relaxation of the limbs and the proprioceptive function, and also that the intervention carried out did not have the expected impact on the dimension of life’s satisfation nor on aspects of emotional development. Based on the opinions of the children and teachers, we concluded that the intervention developed positive emotions, body knowledge and the ability to relax, with benefits for classes. This research is a contribution to understanding the effects, possibilities and potentialities of relaxation for children in school environment. |
