A promoção de uma educação intercultural no ensino de Inglês no 1.º ciclo do Ensino Básico

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio, realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino do Inglês no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, visa documentar, sustentar e avaliar o projeto de investigação-ação denominado “A promoção de uma educação intercultural no ensino do Inglês no 1.º ciclo do Ensino Básico”. O projeto, desenvolvido numa turma do 4.º ano do 1.º ciclo do Ensino Básico, numa escola situada no concelho de Guimarães, tinha como objetivos: identificar opiniões e preferências dos alunos relativamente às estratégias utlizadas para o ensino da língua inglesa; promover a competência intercultural através de diversas estratégias de ensino e aprendizagem; desenvolver competências de autorregulação e reflexão da aprendizagem; avaliar o potencial das atividades didáticas na promoção de uma educação intercultural. As atividades didáticas, com recurso a flashcards, canções, jogos e imagens, realizadas no âmbito do projeto, foram concebidas de acordo com estes objetivos. O projeto dividiu-se em três fases distintas. A fase inicial do projeto que disse respeito à análise de contexto; a fase intermédia que correspondeu ao desenvolvimento das atividades; a fase final onde foi realizada a avaliação global do projeto. Os resultados, obtidos através da aplicação de diversos instrumentos, como os questionários de autorregulação aplicados no final de cada sequência didática, o questionário final, bem como através da observação, revelam que as atividades foram realizadas com satisfação pela grande maioria dos alunos, contribuindo para a promoção da competência intercultural.

The current internship report, taken place within the context of the Masters in Teaching of English in Primary Education, intends to document, sustain and evaluate the investigation-action project named “The promotion of an intercultural education in the teaching of English in primary school”. The project, developed in a 4th grade class in a primary school located in Guimarães, aimed to cover the following objectives: to identify and understand students’ opinions and preferences concerning the strategies of teaching and learning English; to promote the intercultural competence through different strategies of teaching and learning; to develop competences for self-regulation and reflection on learning; to evaluate the potential of didactic activities in promoting intercultural education. The didactic activities, using flashcards, songs, games and images, carried out within the scope of the project, were designed according to these objectives. The project was divided into three distinct phases. The initial phase of the project that concerned context analysis; the intermediate phase that corresponded to the development of the activities; the final phase where the overall evaluation of the project was carried out. The results, obtained through the application of various instruments, such as the self-regulation questionnaires applied at the end of each didactic sequence, the final questionnaire, as well as through observation, show that the activities were carried out with satisfaction by the vast majority of students, contributing to the promotion of intercultural competence.
