empresas: a produtividade e a inovação.
This research focused on the study of two key issues in the daily life of companies: productivity and innovation. Bearing in mind the Portuguese reality, in which the level of productivity differs considerably between companies, we sought to better understand the reasons for this fluctuation. The main objective of this dissertation is to identify, in the context of the theory of technological innovation capabilities (TIC), the relevance of management practices in organizations with high productivity levels. Thus, this document seeks to explore how the performance of organizations is positively influenced by the presence of these management practices. To answer the proposed objective a qualitative methodology was used, resorting to case study analysis and interviews. Forged by the existing literature on TIC, the interviews were focused on exemplary cases from different sectors of the Portuguese business fabric. From a universe of eight target enterprises, thirteen interviewees from different areas of activity were interviewed: Administration; Human Resources; Quality; Marketing and Health and Safety. The data collected allowed us to observe the presence of management practices associated with the theory of TIC in organizations, and, of the twenty indicators that were analyzed, sixteen were multiply represented. It was also possible to highlight which indicators were less expressive and dissimilar with scientific literature, as well as to attribute to Human Resources management practices a preponderant role in their reconfiguration. Regarding the TIC associated with high productivity companies, it should be noted that scientific research is scarce and finite and a particularly flagrant factor in the Portuguese context. Therefore, it is possible to conceive the results of this research as an extension of the knowledge associated with this theme. |
