dc.description.abstract | With the evolution of technology, the textile industry also underwent changes, making it possible to obtain new functionalities through textiles, either by using new fibers and finishes, or by the integration of electronic systems. Thus, the integration of electrically conductive textile yarns in textiles substrates is no longer a novelty. It is possible to use these yarns to measure bio signals, to heat, antimicrobial applications, protection, among other areas. In this work, electrically conductive textile yarns were used to create electrodes capable of measuring heart rate, integrating them into weft meshes. The present dissertation was initially carried out with a survey of some of the existing conductive textile yarns on the market, and a review of the literature regarding existing textile electrodes. Subsequently, regarding the laboratorial component, conductivity tests of the conductive yarns chosen were carried out and the mesh structures were produced incorporating the yarns with them. To try to understand the behavior of these threads during the washing and drying process, the mesh structures underwent five washing and drying cycles. After that, conductivity tests to the electrodes were carried out. At last, to understand if it is possible to reach the desired purpose, that is, the measurement of heart rate through textile electrodes, it was used a device available on the market capable of sending data regarding the heart rate, directly to a smartphone through Bluetooth, having two volunteers worn the mesh structures, and the electrodes tested dry, with water and with a conductive gel, to simulate different environments and to prove their ability to function. | por |
