Contributo dos SIG para a geografia dos transportes: caso de estudo do município de Barcelos

Abstract

Um dos maiores desafios que o ser humano enfrenta atualmente são os elevados níveis de poluição do planeta, que têm vindo a ser cada vez mais impactantes e notórios. Atualmente este problema é cada vez mais debatido e buscam-se soluções que possam ajudar a combater esta tendência. Esta tendência tem-se vindo a acentuar com o crescimento e desenvolvimento acelerado das áreas urbanas onde se tem verificado, em muitos casos, a má gestão de recursos. Um exemplo é o incentivo da utilização do veículo privado ao invés do transporte público, desde o planeamento urbano original das áreas urbanas até às poucas infraestruturas existentes que permitam esta transição. Neste âmbito a presente dissertação serve o propósito de trabalhar em prol de um cenário mais sustentável. Pretende-se que aos poucos vão sendo feitas as transições necessárias para que possamos fazer frente a este problema. Não sendo o cenário ideal, neste projeto foca-se na utilização dos softwares SIG por parte das entidades responsáveis pelos transportes públicos das áreas urbanas, de forma que seja possível criar infraestruturas e que estas sejam capazes de responder às necessidades do quotidiano das populações das áreas urbanas. No caso desta dissertação, a área de estudo é o Município de Barcelos, com foco na rede de autocarros existente na região, de forma a tentar potencializar o serviço prestado aos cidadãos por parte do Município. Assim, será apresentada uma plataforma SIG de apoio aos técnicos competentes e responsáveis por esta área na região em questão, visando assim dar passos maiores em direção à mobilidade mais sustentável do que a que se verifica atualmente.

One of the biggest challenges that human beings currently face are the high levels of pollution on the planet, which have been increasingly impactful and notorious. Currently, this problem is increasingly debated, and solutions are sought that can help combat this trend. This trend has been accentuated with the accelerated growth and development of urban areas where, in many cases, there has been mismanagement of resources. An example is the encouragement of the use of the private vehicle instead of public transport, from the original urban planning of urban areas to the few existing infrastructures that allow this transition. In this context, this dissertation serves the purpose of working towards a more sustainable scenario. It is intended that, little by little, the necessary transitions will be made so that we can face this problem. Not being the ideal scenario, this project focuses on the use of GIS software by entities responsible for public transport in urban areas, so that it is possible to create infrastructure and that these are able to respond to the daily needs of populations in urban areas. In the case of this dissertation, the study area is the Municipality of Barcelos, with a focus on the existing bus network in the region, to try enhancing the service provided to citizens by the Municipality. Thus, a GIS platform will be presented to support the competent technicians responsible for this area in the region in question, with a view to taking greater steps towards more sustainable mobility than is currently the case.
