Desenvolvimento de processos gerais no âmbito da matemática recorrendo ao Método de Singapura: uma experiência no Pré-Escolar e no 4.º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

O presente Relatório resulta do trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito do estágio integrado no Mestrado em Educação Pré-escolar e Ensino do 1.º CEB. O estágio foi desenvolvido em dois contextos distintos, em Educação Pré-Escolar e em 1.ºCiclo do Ensino Básico. Em ambos os contextos, seguiu-se o mesmo princípio, partindo dos interesses, curiosidades e dificuldades das crianças, como maneira de valorizá-las no decorrer das aprendizagens, articulando com as diferentes áreas curriculares, promovendo aprendizagens significativas e contextualizadas. Reconhecendo a importância da Matemática para uma melhor compreensão do Mundo e da vida quotidiana, é necessário estimular e motivar as crianças, desde cedo, para a aprendizagem da Matemática. Desta forma, objetivou-se o desenvolvimento de Processos Gerais, como a Classificação, Seriação, Resolução de Problemas, Raciocínio e Comunicação, interligado aos princípios científico pedagógicos do Método de Singapura, tendo por base a seguinte questão de investigação: De que modo pode ser estimulada a aprendizagem da Matemática recorrendo aos princípios teórico metodológicos do Método de Singapura? Adotou-se para esta investigação uma metodologia qualitativa com contornos da metodologia de investigação-ação, garantindo uma ligação entre a teoria e a prática através de constantes reflexões no desenrolar do Projeto. Os dados foram obtidos através da observação participante, do Diário de Bordo, de registos fotográficos e das produções individuais e em grupo das crianças. Os resultados obtidos mostram que é possível partir dos interesses das crianças, construir e utilizar materiais concretos que privilegiam a aprendizagem da Matemática, a interligação de conceitos, o pensamento sobre os próprios raciocínios, ampliando as estratégias e possibilidades de resolução do mesmo problema, apostando numa aprendizagem com compreensão.

The present report is the result of the work developed in regard to the integrated internship in the Master Degree in Pre-School and Basic Education (Primary School). The internship was developed in two different contexts, in Pre-School and in Basic Education (Primary School). In both contexts, the same principle was followed, starting from the interests, curiosities and difficulties children experience, as a way to value them in the course of learning, articulating with the different curricular areas, promoting significant and contextualized learning experiences. Acknowledging the importance of Mathematics for a better comprehension of the world and the everyday life, it is necessary to stimulate and motivate children, from an early age, for the learning of Mathematics. This way, it was aimed for the developing of General Processes, like the Classification, Seriation, Problem Solving, Reasoning and Communicating, interconnected with the scientific and pedagogical principles of the Singapore Math, based on the following investigation question: In what way can the learning of Mathematics be stimulated resorting to the theoretical and methodological principles of Singapore Math? It was adopted a qualitative methodology with features of the methodology of investigation action assuring a connection between the theory and the practice through continuous reflections all throughout the Project. The data was collected by participant observation, of the Logbook, photographic records and production activities, both individually and in groups. The results obtained demonstrate the possibility to source on the children’s interest, building and making use of certain materials that benefit the Mathematic learning process, associating concepts, the reflection on one’s own thoughts, amplifying the strategies and possible resolutions of one problem, established on a comprehension-based learning process.
