A tradução para legendagem: experiência na empresa Sintagma

Abstract

Este relatório tem por base o estágio curricular realizado na empresa Sintagma Traduções, inserido no Mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue da Universidade do Minho, tendo estagiado na área da tradução audiovisual, mais concretamente da tradução para legendagem. O tema central deste relatório é a Tradução Audiovisual, mais concretamente a modalidade de legendagem, tendo como foco de análise a tradução e legendagem de canções e a linguagem tabu. Aqui descrever-se-á a instituição de acolhimento e o trabalho desenvolvido na mesma, tendo o cuidado de evidenciar, de forma organizada e coerente, a amplitude e diversidade de encomendas e serviços prestados. Como foram desenvolvidos vários projetos desafiadores, será feita uma análise dos problemas recorrentes e as respetivas soluções, assim como dos padrões e regularidades mais comuns ao longo do estágio, de modo a refletir sobre o trabalho realizado, o qual permitiu a aplicação dos conhecimentos adquiridos no Mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue. Este relatório aborda as diferentes especificidades da Tradução Audiovisual, salientando os principais problemas associados e suas soluções. Tomando conhecimento das adversidades que um tradutor enfrenta, este relatório pretende também apelar à necessidade de valorizar estes profissionais.

This report is based on the internship carried out at Sintagma Traduções, as part of the Master's in Translation and Multilingual Communication at University of Minho, in the area of audiovisual translation, specifically translation for subtitling. The main topic of this report is Audiovisual Translation, more specifically subtitling, focusing on translation and subtitling of songs and of taboo language. Here we will describe the host institution and the developed work, carefully emphasizing, in an organized and coherent way, the range and diversity of orders and services provided. As several challenging projects were developed, an analysis of the recurring problems and their solutions as well as of the most common patterns and regularities throughout the internship will be made, in order to reflect on the work done, which allowed the application of the knowledge acquired in the Master's in Translation and Multilingual Communication. This report addresses the different specificities of Audiovisual Translation, highlighting the main problems and solutions associated. Being aware of the adversities that a translator faces, this report also aims to appeal to the need to value these professionals.
