Depois do adeus: análise comparativa dos costumes fúnebres e do simbolismo da morte na China e em Portugal

Abstract

Na vida de uma pessoa existem duas certezas: a mudança e a morte. A relação do ser humano com a morte tem sido parte significante da sua esfera cultural, desde os primórdios da humanidade. A forma como cada comunidade reage e os costumes que daí se desenvolvem estão fortemente interligados com o seu ambiente e com a sua exposição a outras culturas. Sendo que, por meio do contacto intercultural, a cultura fúnebre de uma determinada sociedade é alterada. A presente dissertação, no âmbito da interculturalidade, pretende analisar de forma comparativa os costumes fúnebres e o simbolismo da morte nas culturas portuguesa e chinesa. Este cruzamento cultural visa evidenciar as diferenças e as semelhanças fúnebres entre ambos os países. O que nos separa e o que nos une. Tem como principal propósito promover uma melhor compreensão das características culturais de ambos os lados. Este projeto foi realizado através do enquadramento evolutivo histórico e da análise cultural de certos elementos frequentemente presentes no panorama mortuário e das principais festividades fúnebres.

In one's life, there are two certainties: change and death. From the beginnings of Humanity, the relationship between the Human being and death plays a significant role in their cultural sphere. The way each community interacts, and the customs developed from it are tightly intertwined with their environment and contact with other cultures. Through intercultural contact, one's funerary customs from a certain culture are modified. This Master's dissertation, inside the intercultural scope, intends to analyze comparatively the mortuary customs and death symbolism in the Portuguese and the Chinese cultures. This cultural crossing aims to showcase the similarities and differences between both countries. What unites us and what pulls us apart. The main purpose is to promote a better understanding of the cultural characteristics of both sides. This was conducted via the observation of the historical evolutionary context and by the cultural assessment of certain elements frequently presented on the death landscape, as well as of the main death festivities.
