Sons da distância, sons distantes?

Abstract

Nos meses de março, abril e maio de 2020, no contexto da pandemia de COVID-19, Portugal enfrentou um período de confinamento. Durante esse tempo, o isolamento domiciliário a que todos fomos votados, acabou por nos expor a uma atmosfera sonora completamente diferente, eventualmente mais sossegada e silenciosa que o habitual. A curiosidade acerca dos sons que acabaram por se revelar nesse ambiente sónico modificado levou o projeto AUDIRE a lançar um convite público, para que quem assim desejasse contribuir, pudesse partilhar o modo particular como escutou os sons evidenciados pela quarentena. Dos quase 60 registos analisados, verificou-se, mesmo em confinamento, a presença expressiva de sonoridades motivadas pela ação humana, inclusive em contextos onde a biofonia ou geofonia poderiam sobressair-se.

Portugal, as most countries across the world, faced a lockdown period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, during the months of March, April and part of May 2020. This isolation period, where most of us stayed at home, exposed us to a completely different sonic atmosphere, quieter than usual. Curiosity about the sounds that ended up being revealed in this modified sonic environment led the AUDIRE project to issue an open invitation to all of those who wanted to contribute and share their own particular ways of hearken the sounds put to evidence by the lockdown period. From the analysis of almost 60 sounds, it was clear that, even during a lockdown, there was a significant presence of sonorities motivated by the human action, even in spaces where biophony or geophony should prevail.
