Abstract(s)One of the problems associated with brain cancer resection surgeries is the difficulty in distinguishing the tumor from brain parenchyma. Therefore, it is important to find new methods that increase the resection degree, reducing tumor recurrence. Human tissues have a frequency-specific response and laboratory measurements have been demonstrated to detect tumors using low frequency waves. With the use of electromagnetic waves working at 60 GHz, this paper aims to show an effective way to distinguish tumor cells from the surrounding brain parenchyma, based on the difference between dielectric properties of the two tissues. This goal is achieved through the analysis of electric field patterns.
