dc.description.abstractThis paper proposes an innovative method to improve the accuracy of strain determination on the split-Hopkinson pressure bar experiments. This is essential for assessing the energy absorption capability of para-aramid fabrics and composite panels used in ballistic protections. The presentation is focused on a specially designed inductive coil extensometer and experimental technique to accurately measure strain. Results from force–displacement characterization of para-aramid fabrics under impact loading are presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed concept.por
