Resumo(s)This work aims to develop functionalized natural fibres, using metal oxide nanoparticles, for several applications, particularly for protection/degradation of chemical and biological harmful agents. CaO and SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthetized via simple and sustainable methods followed by the jute fabrics impregnation with these NPs. Parallelly, the in situ synthesis of the NPs directly onto the fibres was also tested. For these purposes, different precursor concentrations, reaction times, reaction temperature, sintering process and impregnation methods were tested. The final samples were characterized using FESEM, EDS, ATR-FTIR, XRD and GSDR. All these techniques confirmed the presence of the nanoparticles onto the fabrics. Several properties were also analysed including organophosphates degradation, anti-bacterial activity and self-cleaning capability.
