Contudo, o elemento adesivo ainda implica algumas limitações.
Of some years to this part, the manifestation of anomalies in reinforced concrete structures has increased significantly. This problem implied the development of materials and techniques for the resolution of these problems. The external reinforcement of the concrete elements is a technique that has acquired more potential. For such, steel plates and, more recently, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymers) are bonded to the concrete surface with epoxy adhesives. The technological development of external reinforcement elements was wellknown and of epoxy also. However, the adhesive element still implies some limitations. To apply it in aggressive places, typically with exposure to high temperatures, implies lose the adhesive properties and, eventually, to put the structure in risk. For high temperatures, typically of the order of the 60 ºC, the epoxies can be affected, putting in cause the effectiveness of the reinforcements. The temperature where this change of properties verifies is assigned by glass transition temperature (Tg). To evaluate the influence of the temperature on structural bonding agents, two kinds of tests with adhesives had been carried out. For concrete/concrete unions, a compressive shear test, for series of successively more aggressive thermal degradation were made. With an identical process of degradation, external FRP bonded in beams of hardened concrete had been evaluated through free point bending tests. The results had demonstrated the influence of the temperature in the structural bonding agents, annulling the linking effect between the elements for it joined. With this problem, a system was studied that contributes for the maintenance of the integrity of the reinforcement system. It is possible to keep the bonding agent in good condition, same in adverse situations appealing only the common isolating materials. In this way the confidence in this system of reinforcement will be renewed. |
