A viagem do atuneiro Zargo: uma história de espaço e tempo

Abstract

O presente trabalho aborda uma viagem Ultramarina do atuneiro Zargo realizada em 1968, dentro da campanha da pesca do atum. A jornada em questão foi a primeira ação do investimento realizado pelo Estado Novo sobre as pescas do atum. A deslocação da embarcação efetuou-se nas águas atlânticas circundantes das colónias portuguesas, tendo a duração de um ano. A reconstituição da viagem surge a partir do testemunho de dois pescadores da embarcação e das entrevistas encontradas feitas seu ao Capitão. Através dos relatos projetam-se os espaços que compõem a viagem, estando o seu aprofundamento intimamente ligado àquilo que foi experienciado pelos tripulantes. Através das histórias de viagem pretende-se representar o espaço e o tempo inscritos na jornada, a partir das descrições realizadas pelos três tripulantes (os dois pescadores e o comandante). Desta forma, exploram-se lugares aos quais os discursos permitem aceder. Assim, através das memórias, procede-se a um reconhecimento do espaço tempo da viagem, e expande-se o saber a determinados acontecimentos particulares, característicos de cada lugar e circunstância. Desta forma, assiste-se à interdependência que conecta pessoas, lugares e tempos, numa jornada comum. Numa primeira fase procura-se descrever a Partida de Zargo, demonstrando os acontecimentos que lhe antecedem, de modo a interpretar as implicações e as causas relacionada com o ato de sair. Assim, numa segunda fase, retrata-se a Jornada, ocorrências que se decompõem em vários lugares, tempos e circunstâncias. Por fim, surge a última etapa da viagem, descrita no Regresso.

The present investigation adresses an Overseas trip of the tuna ship Zargo held in 1968, within the tuna fishing campaign. The journey in question was the first actions of the investment conducted by the Estado Novo on tuna fisheries. The displacement of the vessel was carried out in the Atlantic waters surrounding the Portuguese colonies, with a duration of one year. The reconstruction of the trip arises from the testimony of two fishermen of the vessel and from interviews found with the Captain of the ship. Through the reports, the spaces that compose the trip are projected, being its study closely related to what was experienced by the crew. Through the travel stories i tis intended to represent the space and time inscribed on the journey, from the descriptions made by the three crew members (the two fishermen and the commander). In this way, places are exploited to which discourses allow access. Thus, through the memories, the travel space time is recognized, and the knowledge is expanded to certain particular events, characteristic of each place and circumstance. From this, its possible to see the interdependence that connects people, places and times, in a common journey. Initially it is attempted to describe the Departure of Zargo, demonstrating the events that preceded it, in order to interpret the implications and causes related to the act of leaving. Thus, in a second phase, the Journey, occurrences that decompose in various places, times and circumstances. Finally, the last stage of the journey appears, described in the Return.
