Como andar sobre a água: estudo da Laguna di Venezia, da mobilidade no seu interior e as Fermate del Vaporetto

Abstract

O presente projeto é um exercício de reflexão acerca de como andar sobre a água na Laguna di Venezia. Através do estudo desta área, dos meios de mobilidade utilizados e das estruturas que os auxiliam, é possível redesenhar as Fermate del Vaporetto. Sendo que é notório a ausência de enquadramento com a Laguna e as várias vulnerabilidades que as Fermate del Vaporetto apresentam, acreditamos que o redesenho destas últimas é essencial para melhorar a experiência de mobilidade do elevado número de habitantes e turistas que diariamente necessitam de recorrer aos vaporetto como forma de deslocação na Laguna. Considerando as características únicas da Laguna e as formas de mobilidade peculiares encontradas neste território, numa primeira fase procede-se à análise da evolução histórica da Laguna e das características e variáveis que a influenciam, realçando sempre a importância da água. Numa segunda fase, aborda-se a mobilidade neste território, visando demonstrar que o vaporetto é o meio de transporte mais utilizado. Numa terceira fase, efetua-se a análise da história do vaporetto e das trajetórias que atualmente este meio de mobilidade percorre. Por último, antes de proceder ao redesenho do módulo, realiza- se o levantamento exaustivo de todas as Fermate del Vaporetto in situ, com o objetivo de se compreender a forma como estas estruturas são organizadas e a própria constituição dos seus módulos. Após esta análise constata-se as vulnerabilidades das estruturas existentes, a carência de intervenção em diversas variáveis, assim como a necessidade de enquadramento com a cidade, diminuição da desordem, alteração do modo de circulação e aumento do conforto das fermate. A tese finaliza com o projeto de redesenho dos módulos das fermate. Durante o seu redesenho, atendeu-se ao aperfeiçoamento da imagem, da funcionalidade, do ambiente e ao custo de construção com o objetivo de corrigir as vulnerabilidades existentes e preservar os aspetos mais interessantes e característicos encontrados ao longo de toda a análise anterior.

This project is a brainstorming exercise on how to walk on water in Laguna di Venezia. By studying this area, the mobility means used, as well as the facilities that support the said means, we can redesign the Fermate del Vaporetto. The Fermate del Vaporetto are clearly not in line with the Laguna context and present several vulnerabilities, and we believe that to redesign the Fermate is essential to improve the mobility experience of a high number of inhabitants and tourists who daily need to resort to the vaporetto as a means of transportation in the Laguna. Taking into account the unique features of the Laguna and the peculiar forms of mobility found in the said territory, we shall start by analyzing the Laguna historical evolution and the features and variables that influence it, highlighting the importance of water. As a second step in which we debate mobility in the territory in order to show that the vaporetto is the most used means of transportation. The third step is the analysis of the vaporetto and the paths that this means of mobility currently takes. Before redesigning the module, and as a last step, we surveyed all Fermate di Vaporetto in situ to understand these structure`s organization and their module`s constitution. After this analysis, the existing structure`s vulnerabilities are clear, as well as the absence of intervention in several variables, and the need to frame the structures within the city, decrease the lack of order, change the circulation system and increase the fermate comfort. The thesis ends with the fermate modules redesign. During the redesign, we took into account the image, functionality, environment and the construction cost in order to correct the existing vulnerabilities while preserving the positive and typical features found throughout the prior analysis.
