Reconstituição histórica da Casa do Alto ou Casa Raul Brandão, em Nespereira, Guimarães: espaço e memória

Abstract

O presente trabalho, inserido no Mestrado em Património Histórico e Turismo Cultural da Universidade do Minho, visa a realização de uma dissertação que tem por objetivo central a reconstituição histórica da Casa do Alto ou Casa Raul Brandão, situada na freguesia de Nespereira, no concelho de Guimarães. Pretende-se, deste modo, realizar um estudo aprofundado que permita reconstituir a história deste imóvel, desde a sua origem, no século XVI até à atualidade, incidindo particularmente no período de tempo em que lá viveu o escritor Raul Brandão. Raul Brandão comprou este imóvel quando se casou com Maria Angelina, no final do século XIX, nele passando a residir em definitivo em 1912. Foi nesta localidade que o escritor viveu a fase mais produtiva da sua vida literária. Nesse sentido, para além da documentação escrita existente nos arquivos da Câmara Municipal de Guimarães e no Arquivo Municipal Alfredo Pimenta, pretende-se analisar o espólio de Raul Brandão que se encontra atualmente na Sociedade Martins Sarmento, uma doação da Biblioteca Nacional, e que permite ajudar a reconstituir aspetos relacionados com a funcionalidade e o ornato de alguns dos espaços que fizeram parte da Casa do Alto. O estudo sobre a Casa do Alto reveste-se de uma relevância patrimonial acrescida, uma vez que em 2017 se comemoraram os 150 anos do nascimento de Raul Brandão, personagem que habitou neste imóvel e lhe introduziu profundas alterações.

The presente project, inserted in the Master’s Degree in Historical Heritage and Cultural Tourism of University of Minho. Consists in a realization of a dissertation whose main objective is the historical reconstruction of Casa do Alto or Casa Raul Brandão, located in the parish of Nespereira, in the country of Guimarães. In this way, we intend to make na in – depth study to reconstruct the history of this propety, from its origin in the 16th century to the presente, focusing particularly on the period of time in which the writer Raul Brandão lived there. Raul Brandão bought this property when he married Maria Angelina at the end of the 19th century, when he finally sehed in 1912. It was in this locality that the writer lived the most productive phase of his literary life. In this sense, beyond to the written documentation in the archives of the Municipal of Guimarães and in the Alfredo Pimenta Municipal Archive, intended to analyse the legacy of Raul Brandão, currently in the Martins Sarmento Society, a donation of National Library, help to reconstitute aspects related to the functionality and adornment of some of the spaces that were part of the Casa do Alto. The study about the Casa do Alto has an added value relevance, since in 2017 the 150th aniversary of the birth of Raul Brandão was celebrated, a character that in habited this propriety and introduced profound changes.
