Uma análise exploratória à experiência do tempo

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como objetivos identificar e compreender as definições, representações e usos do tempo. A partir de uma análise da literatura sobre o conceito de tempo na atualidade, o estudo centra-se numa pesquisa qualitativa, conduzida através de entrevistas junto a pessoas com regimes de tempo de trabalho diversos. Procurar-se-á destacar o modo como os atores usam o tempo no quotidiano e que sentido lhe atribuem. Esta investigação pretende, ainda, aceder às interpretações e avaliações sobre o tempo, tanto numa perspetiva diária, como numa perspetiva biográfica. Procura-se detalhar, principalmente, que tipo de diferenças existem nos usos e nas perceções do tempo. Os objetivos são estudar os usos do tempo num momento dado, e perceber de que modo estes regimes de tempo foram ou são perspetivados pelos próprios como tendo influência sobre os seus percursos de vida e as suas expectativas. Nesse sentido, procura-se relacionar as descrições e as análises sobre os usos do tempo com as características do tempo-ambiente que caracteriza a geração a que pertence ou pertenceu o sujeito. Neste sentido, o trabalho cruza informações estatísticas recolhidas junto do Eurostat e Pordata e de outros organismos ligados aos estudos do tempo, assim como entrevistas biográficas realizadas a um conjunto de pessoas com idades diferentes e com atividades profissionais com regimes de tempo diferentes.

The present research aims at identifying and understanding the definitions, representations and uses of time. Based on an analysis of the literature concerning the concept of time in the present, this study will focus on a qualitative research, conducted through interviews to people with different working hours. It will be emphasized on how people use time in their everyday life and what meaning they give to their actions. This research will also focus on accessing the interpretations and evaluations of time, both in a daily and biographical perspective. It is also important to pay attention to details, mainly, the differences that exist concerning the uses and perceptions of time. The objectives are to study the uses of time at a certain moment and to understand how time regimes/schedules were or are perceived by workers as having influence on their lives and expectations. In this sense, it seeks to relate the descriptions and analyses about the uses of time with the characteristics of the time-environment that characterizes the generation to which the subject belongs or had already belonged to. Therefore, the work crosses statistical information collected from the Eurostat and Pordata databases and other agencies linked to the studies about time, as well as biographical interviews answered by a group of people of different ages, with different professional activities and different working hours/schedules.
