Os movimentos católicos femininos na Arquidiocese de Braga: a Liga Agrícola Católica Feminina e a Liga Operária Católica Feminina (anos 30 a 70 do século XX)

Abstract

O estudo que se apresenta pretende constituir um contributo sobre os grupos católicos femininos pertencentes à Ação Católica Portuguesa. Trata-se de um estudo de caso sobre a Liga Agrícola Católica Feminina e a Liga Operária Católica Feminina na arquidiocese de Braga, entre os inícios dos anos 30 e a Revolução de Abril. Analisamos a criação e a composição destes grupos no contexto das diretrizes, finalidades e preocupações da Ação Católica, veiculadas através das suas publicações oficiais da ACP (boletins mensais, trimestrais e anuais). Recorremos ainda à exploração das fichas das associadas afetas aos dois organismos especializados apontados com o objetivo de caracterizar este universo e surpreender sinais relativos ao significado de pertença ao movimento. A realização de um conjunto de entrevistas com indivíduos ligados aos organismos da Ação Católica, contribuiu para enriquecer a problematização dos resultados obtidos, no contexto da revisão critica da bibliografia da especialidade consultada. Em suma o presente trabalho visa constituir um contributo para o estudo da dinâmica do associativismo católico feminino durante o Estado Novo, no sentido de apreender a ação do movimento no campo da educação (religiosa, social e individual) e do controlo do meio operário e rural. Em especial, o relevo atribuído à reeducação da mulher no sentido de atingir o ideal preconizado pela Igreja e que concorria em favor dos valores salazaristas.

The study is intended to be a contribution to the female Catholic groups belonging to the Portuguese Catholic Action. This is a case study of the female Catholic Agricultural League and the female Catholic Working League in the Archdiocese of Braga, between the early 1930s and the April revolution. We analyze the creation and composition of these groups in the context of the guidelines, purposes and concerns of the Catholic action, conveyed through their official ACP publications (monthly, quarterly and annual bulletins). We have also resorted to the exploitation of the Associates files affects the two specialized organisms aimed at characterizing this universe and surprising signs concerning the meaning of belonging to the movement. The realization of a set of interviews with individuals related to the groups of the Catholic Action, contributed to enrich the questioning of the results obtained, in the context of the critical review of the bibliography of the specialty consulted. In short, the present work aims to constitute a contribution to the study of the dynamics of female Catholic associativity during the new state, in order to apprehend the action of the movement in the field of education (religious, social and individual) and the control of the environment worker and rural. In particular, the relief attributed to the reeducation of the woman in order to achieve the ideal of the church and which was in favor of the Salazar values.
