Arte em comunidade: AMAReMAR em Esposende

Abstract

Com a realização desta investigação pretendemos abordar a temática da arte comunitária, ou seja, atividades de criação artística com o objetivo de intervir socialmente em grupos e/ou populações nos quais sejam identificados quaisquer tipos de fragilidade social, sociologicamente remissíveis para o conceito de exclusão social. Tal como refere Silva (2005:7), “as exclusões (...) remetem” para “um desigual poder de disposição ou controlo sobre bens e serviços, recursos e recompensas”, implicando “a situação de não-inclusão, de não-inserção e ou de não integração de indivíduos ou grupos sociais (...).” Neste sentido, as razões da exclusão, como salientado por Costa (2007: 39), Devem [ser procuradas] na sociedade: no modo como a sociedade se encontra organizada e funciona, no estilo de vida e na cultura dominantes, na estrutura de poder (político, económico, social e cultural) – tudo fatores que se traduzem em mecanismos sociais que geram e perpetuam a pobreza e a exclusão. Ainda segundo o mesmo autor (Costa, 2007: 39), a solução do problema [da pobreza e da exclusão] “requer a eliminação desses mecanismos, o que se não faz sem mudanças sociais”. Nesta investigação refletimos sobre a importância da intervenção social pela arte na atenuação de alguns dos “mecanismos” que podem estar a perpetuar algumas das fragilidades sociais de que são portadoras populações em situação de exclusão social. Para o efeito, escolhemos o projeto AMAReMAR apoiado pela Câmara Municipal de Esposende. Este projeto, iniciado em 2016, tem como objetivo lutar contra a exclusão social através do envolvimento da população em práticas de criação artística, mais propriamente por meio da oficina de teatro. Assim, os objetivos principais desta investigação passam por tentar identificar quais as representações sociais que a população participante no AMAReMAR tem sobre este projeto bem como procurar compreender as suas experiências identitárias enquanto participantes do AMAReMAR. A metodologia utilizada para levar a cabo esta investigação passou maioritariamente por uma abordagem qualitativa. Assim, realizámos entrevistas semiestruturadas aos responsáveis pelo AMAReMAR e aos agentes artístico-culturais de modo a obter informação sobre a conceção do projeto e a sua realização no terreno e, sobretudo, o uso da técnica de observação participante com o objetivo de acompanhar de perto quer o funcionamento da oficina de teatro quer as experiências dos seus participantes. Realizámos ainda um grupo de foco constituído por uma parte dos participantes. Os dados obtidos através quer da observação participante quer do grupo de foco revelam que, pelo menos no que toca à oficina de teatro, o projeto AMAReMAR conseguiu atingir os objetivos propostos, nomeadamente a promoção da inclusão social através das experiências identitárias promovidas no seio das oficinas do AMAReMAR.

With the accomplishment of this investigation we intend to approach the theme of the community art, that is to say, activities of artistic creation with the goal of socially intervening in groups and / or populations in which are identified any type of social fragility, sociologically referable to the concept of social exclusion. As stated by Silva (2005: 7), "exclusions (…) refer" to "an unequal power of disposition or control over goods and services, resources and rewards" implying "the situation of noninclusion, of not and integration of individuals or social groups (...)”. Therefore, the reasons for exclusion, as stressed by Costa (2007:39): Must be pursued in society: in the way society is organized and functioning, in the dominant lifestyle and culture, in the power structure (political, economic, social and cultural) - all factors that translate into social mechanisms which generate and perpetuate poverty and exclusion. Still according to the same author (Costa, 2007: 39), the solution to the problem (of poverty and exclusion) "requires the elimination of these mechanisms, which is not done without social changes." In this research we reflect on the importance of social intervention by art in the mittigation of some of the "mechanisms" that may be perpetuating some of the social fragilities that are carriers of populations in situations of social exclusion. For this purpose, we chose the AMAReMAR project supported by the Municipal Council of Esposende. This project, that started in 2016, aims to fight against social exclusion through the involvement of the population in artistic creation practices, specifically through the theater workshop. Thus, the main goals of this research are to try to identify the social representations that the participating population in AMAReMAR has on this project as well as to try to understand their identity experiences as participants in AMAReMAR. The methodology used to carry out this research has essentially a qualitative approach. Thus, we conducted semi-structured interviews with those responsible for the project, and the artistic and cultural agents, in order to obtain information about the design of AMAReMAR and its practice on the field; as well as the participant observation technique in order to follow close to both the theater workshop and the experiences of its participants. We also carried out a focus group with some of the participants. The data obtained through both the participant observation and the focus group reveal that, at least as far as the theater workshop is concerned, the AMAReMAR project was able to achieve the underlying goals, namely the experiences promoted in the workshops of AMAReMAR.
