Do tráfico retalhista em Portugal : as redes da semi-periferia

Abstract

Partindo de um recente padrão prisional onde emergem amplas constelações de parentes e vizinhos, remontar-se-á a algumas das lógicas pelas quais tal tendência se produz a montante, em torno do tráfico -- umas atinentes a determinados enfoques policiais e judiciais, outras inerentes à especificidade que a economia retalhista da droga assume em Portugal. Adoptando uma perspectiva comparativa, focar-se-á especialmente o modo como a estrutura do mercado local se conjuga, por um lado, com noções de género e, por outro, com formas culturais e redes sociais ditas «tradicionais» para compôr um cenário divergente do de outras paragens -- e algo diverso, também, do que supõem noções correntes sobre os universos da droga.

Starting from a recent prison pattern where large clusters of kin and neighbours emerge, this paper tries to capture the logics out of which such a trend arises in the first place and bilds around drug trafficking. Some of these logics pertain to certain criminal justice procedures and law enforcement strategies; others pertain to the specific shape of the portuguese retail drug economy. Adopting a comparative stance, I will focus especially the way the structure of the local drug market combines, on the one hand, with gender definitions and, on the other hand, with so-called «traditional» social networks and cultural forms to produce a framework quite different form those of other countries -- and also an outcome that challenges common notions about the drug scene.
