Crianças, instituições de acolhimento e interações inclusivas: um estudo de caso

Abstract

Este estudo de caso tem como principal finalidade compreender de que forma as interações entre crianças institucionalizadas contribuem para o seu desenvolvimento emocional. Deste modo, a investigação é um estudo de caso e tem como orientação metodológica a abordagem qualitativa. Para concretizar estes objetivos foram aplicadas algumas entrevistas semiestruturadas a crianças e jovens selecionados com idades compreendidas entre os 5 e os 17 anos de idade. Os resultados obtidos foram analisados e interpretados. A recolha de informação foi feita numa Instituição de Acolhimento Residencial, e foram também aplicadas entrevistas aos técnicos da mesma. A Institucionalização é uma medida a tomar em último recurso, após considerar e ponderar outras alternativas, tendo em conta os efeitos que este processo vai ter na vida das crianças. A relevância deste estudo prende-se com o impacto negativo que uma institucionalização prolongada pode ter na vida de uma criança e torna-se fulcral entender os motivos pelos quais isto acontece.

The main purpose of this case study is to understand how inclusive interactions among institutionalized children contribute to their emotional development. In this way, the research is a case study and it has the qualitative approach as methodological orientation. To achieve these objectives, there were applied some semi-structured interviews to selected children and youths between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. The results were analyzed and interpreted. The collection of information was done in a host institution, and interviews were also applied to the technicians of the same. Institutionalization is a measure to be taken as a last resource, after considering several other alternatives and taking into account the effects that this process will have on children's lives. The relevance of this study is related to the negative impact that prolonged institutionalization can have on a child's life and it becomes very important to understand the reasons why this happens.
