Abstract(s)The new hydrazone derivative 3 was obtained in moderate yield by condensation of an heterocyclic aldehyde with hydrazine in ethanol, heated at reflux. The new compound was characterized by the usual spectroscopic techniques and a detailed photophysical study was undertaken. The evaluation of the compound as a colorimetric chemosensor was carried out by performing spectrophotometric titrations in acetonitrile and acetonitrile/water in the presence of relevant organic and inorganic anions, and transition metal cations.
