Tradução e validação para a população portuguesa da Escala de Satisfação Sexual para Mulheres

Abstract

A satisfação sexual, apesar de ser um constructo complexo, apresenta-se como um indicador do bem-estar sexual, sendo muitas vezes influenciada pelo mal-estar sexual. A Satisfaction Scale for Women foi desenvolvida para avaliar a satisfação sexual e mal-estar sexual feminino, a partir de uma estrutura de cinco fatores (contentamento, comunicação, compatibilidade, preocupação pessoal e preocupação relacional). O presente estudo objetivou a tradução e validação para a população portuguesa da Escala de Satisfação Sexual para Mulheres. A amostra do estudo foi constituída por 329 mulheres que, posteriormente foram divididas em dois grupos, de acordo com o ponto de corte do Índice de Funcionamento Sexual Feminino: grupo de controlo (n=273) e grupo subclínico (n=56). As participantes preencheram um questionário online que incluía três medidas de autorrelato. Foram realizadas análises estatísticas para explorar a estrutura fatorial e as características psicométricas do instrumento para a população portuguesa. A estrutura fatorial do instrumento original foi replicada e o modelo de cinco fatores revelou-se ajustado. Adicionalmente, verificaram-se valores satisfatórios de fiabilidade, bem como de validade convergente, divergente e concorrente. Em suma, a versão portuguesa da escala demonstra boas características psicométricas podendo ser utilizado como medida fiável para avaliar a satisfação sexual e mal-estar sexual em mulheres.

Despite being a complex construct, sexual satisfaction is an indicator of sexual well-being and it is often influenced by sexual distress. The Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women was developed to assess women’s sexual satisfaction and distress, based on a five-factor structure (contentment, communication, compatibility, relational concern and personal concern). This study focused on the translation and validation of the Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women for the Portuguese population. The sample of the study was composed by 329 women, who were later divided into two groups, according to cut-off score from the Female Sexual Functioning Index: control group (n=273) and subclinical group (n=56). Participants completed an online questionnaire, which included three self-report measures. Statistical analysis was performed to analyze the factor structure and the psychometric properties of the instrument for the Portuguese population. The factor structure of the original instrument was replicated and the five-factor model was considered adjusted. Satisfactory values of fidelity were also found, as well as values of convergent, discriminant and concurrent validity. To sum up, the Portuguese version of the Scale presents good psychometric properties and can be used as a reliable measure to assess women’s sexual satisfaction and sexual distress.
