dc.description.abstract | O desenvolvimento deste relatório esteve relacionado com a experiência de estágio académico no semanário Grande Porto, com duração de três meses, entre Setembro e Dezembro de 2009. Deste modo, é feita uma apresentação do grupo a que o jornal pertence, bem como do jornal. Posteriormente, é feito um relato da experiência de estágio, salientando os aspectos mais importantes. O tema central do presente relatório é o futuro do jornalismo. Este interesse surgiu durante o estágio devido, sobretudo, a uma característica do jornal, o seu recente lançamento no mercado. O jornalismo impresso está em crise. Algumas das razões que justificam este cenário são o advento da Internet, o crescimento dos jornais gratuitos, a mudança nos hábitos de consumo das notícias, a alteração das audiências e a crise económica e publicitária. Perante este cenário é importante saber se há, e quais são, as perspectivas de futuro a médio e longo prazo para garantir a sobrevivência da imprensa escrita. Deste modo, o objectivo do relatório é, através de revisão bibliográfica, dar a conhecer as perspectivas dos investigadores relativamente ao futuro do jornal, que passam pela adaptação dos jornais impressos ao ambiente online, pela aposta em factores diferenciadores dos restantes produtos jornalísticos que lhe vão permitir ser influente perante a sociedade e, assim, permanecer no mercado a médio e longo prazo. A este nível é apresentado o caso do semanário Grande Porto, que demonstra que mesmo num momento de crise económica e do Jornalismo há espaço para novos projectos. Mas para tal é necessário desenvolver estratégias de marketing, por exemplo, para conseguir alcançar leitores. Assim, após investigação conclui-se que há futuro para o jornalismo impresso, ainda há soluções para este segmento da imprensa. dc.description.abstract | The development of this report is consequence of a three month internship at the weekly newspaper Grande Porto, that took place between September and October of 2009. Therefore, there is a presentation of the newspaper and of the group to which the newspaper belongs. The report goes on to describe the internship experience, emphasizing the most relevant aspects. The main theme of this report is the future of journalism. This interest surged during the internship, especially due to the fact that the newspaper was recently launched in the market. Print journalism is in crisis. Some of the reasons for this scenario are the advent of the Internet, the growth of free newspapers, the change in consumption habits of the news, changing audiences and the economic and advertising crisis. When faced with this background it is important to know if there is, and what are, the prospects for the future in medium and long term in order to ensure the survival of the press. As a result, the main objective of this report is to show investigators perspectives in what concerns the future of journalism through a bibliographical review. The future beholds the adaptation of print journalism to an online environment, betting on factors that differences them from other journalism products that will allow them to influence society and, this way, remain in the market in medium and long term. At this level, the weekly newspaper Grande Porto is presented as it demonstrates that even when in a time of crisis, not only in economy but also in journalism, there is space for new projects. But, for this to happen it is necessary to develop marketing strategies, for example, to be able to reach readers. In conclusion, there is future for print journalism, there are still solutions for this segment of the press.
