Internet, permite chegar a todo o mundo e captar muitos potenciais turistas.
Territorial marketing is a strategic tool, increasingly incorporated into the cities management policy. It is more and more urgent to define a territorial marketing strategy that clearly positions the city, which gives it an empowering image, which defines well the target audiences and, within these, the targets that are intended to attack, and communicate the city as it is, its intrinsic characteristics and the best that the city has, to delight the visitors. Territorial marketing is also a tool that helps cities free themselves from the tourist seasonality. Branding allows territories (countries, regions or cities) to enhance their importance and reputation. Today’s society, which is also considered as the information society, the definition of a strong and distinctive territorial brand, communicated mainly through digital media and the Internet, allows reaching the world and attracting many potential tourists. It is therefore essential to create a distinctive destination image, capable of drawing attention to tourists, overcoming the ever-increasing competition. More and more the territories dispute the tourists among themselves. After having drawn the attention, the territory must be prepared to show its best to know how to welcome and attract tourist so that they can be satisfied and recommend their family and friends to visit and be back. Thus, it is necessary to work together and cooperate with all stakeholders, from those who are most directly connected and are responsible for defining the territorial marketing strategy, to the city dwellers, who are also the messengers of this welcoming. In the present dissertation, we try to introduce the theoretical component of this subject and its application through the case study of the city of Braga. Braga is a city with a huge tourist potential, but, as many cities, it is still trying to find its strategic path, involving all stakeholders and motivating traders and its city dwellers to this source of wealth that is tourism. Braga can perfectly benefit from the close connection to Porto, which already has a very well defined territorial marketing strategy and has won many awards recently. Braga has more and more tourists, and this brings a lot of hustle and bustle to the city. |
