Os espaços do cinema Vimaranense: onde se vê, ensina e cria cinema em Guimarães

Abstract

Este trabalho de Mestrado pretende dar a conhecer o panorama dos espaços dedicados ao cinema no concelho de Guimarães, procura-se documentar e observar a história destes espaços, a sua riqueza cultural e o seu estado atual. Não se pretende que esta investigação seja um estudo exploratório exaustivo dos espaços e acontecimentos relacionados com o cinema em Guimarães, mas sim um levantamento e a criação de um registo, aliados a uma reflexão crítica, de espaços geográficos, projetos, iniciativas, atividades e experiências com relação ao cinema desenvolvidos na cidade berço. Aliado ao interesse em recuperar a memória do património material e imaterial da cultura cinematográfica vimaranense, a motivação para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho foi o interesse em perceber a importância simbólica destes espaços e a reflexão sobre o papel que desempenham na construção de uma cultura cinematográfica. Partindo da ideia de que o espaço está comprometido com a experiência de visionamento do filme, ou seja, de que os espaços contribuem para alterações na construção, receção e perceção do filme, pretende-se refletir sobre a importância destes espaços não apenas como espaço de divulgação do filme, mas fundamentalmente como espaço de construção do simbolismo do cinema.

This Master Thesis aims to present the panorama of spaces dedicated to cinema in Guimarães. It seeks to observe and register the history of these spaces, their cultural richness and their current state. It is not intended that this research be an exhaustive exploratory study of spaces and events related to the cinema in Guimarães, but a survey and the construction of a record, together with a critical reflection of geographic spaces, projects, initiatives, activities and experiences regarding film in Guimarães. Linked to the interest in recovering the memory of the tangible and intangible heritage of film culture in Guimarães, the motivation for the undertaking of this work was the interest in understanding the symbolic importance of these spaces and in providing a reflection on the role they play in building a film culture. Starting from the idea that space is committed to the viewing experience of the film, ie, that the spaces contribute to changes in construction, reception and perception of the film this work is intended as a reflection of the importance of these spaces not only as the settings of film release, but fundamentally as building spaces where the symbolism of cinema is built.
