A dimensão política da cenografia nas obras de Piscator, Brecht e Grotowski

Abstract

No estudo de autores como Erwin Piscator, Bertolt Brecht e Jerzy Grotowski torna-se perceptível como a cenografia pode ser um componente importante de um teatro que pretende confrontar o observador com a realidade e fazê-lo reagir aos acontecimentos. A análise que terá aqui lugar procura perceber quais as características específicas de uma cenografia pensada a partir da vontade de suscitar uma visão crítica no espectador. Com esse intuito, parte-se da selecção e investigação de algumas peças dos autores mencionados, cujas cenografias serão estudadas a partir da definição de temas que relacionam o espaço com uma possível atitude política. São eles o dispositivo cénico (análise da disposição dos elementos e do enquadramento da cena), o simbolismo presente no cenário em causa (interpretação da dimensão simbólica da cena) e os agentes e processos (identificação dos agentes envolvidos, processos de trabalho desenvolvidos e meios de produção utilizados).

After studying authors such as Erwin Piscator, Bertolt Brecht and Jerzy Grotowski it becomes evident how scenography can be an important component of a theatre that is intended to confront the viewer with the reality and make him react to events. This analysis aims the understanding which specifically features set designs that where conceived to shine a different light trying to bring out the critic spirit in each of its viewers. With this in mind, this analysis starts by investigating the selected authors and plays, whose set designs will be studied from the definition of topics that relate the space with a possible political attitude. They are the scenic device (analysis of the arrangement of elements and framework of the scene), the symbolism in the scene in question (interpretation of the symbolic dimension of the scene) and the agents and processes involved (identification of stakeholders, work processes and means production practices).
