The present document constitutes a report on a project on pedagogical intervention which is part of the curricular unit on Practice of Supervised Teaching, part of the Master’s Degree on Preschool Education and centered on the theme: “Reading and narrating stories: challenges to the communication, imagination and discovery of writing”. The theme of the project was defined by the identification of the children’s interest for stories while trying to promote communication, language and imagination through reading and the exploration of child’s literature, focusing on the reconstruction of representations around specific characters. The project was implemented on two distinct contexts, kindergarten and nursery, in the city of Braga with groups of children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old and 2 years old, respectively. This pedagogical intervention was oriented by principles of action research with recursive cycles of participation, observation and reflection sustained by theoretical references and the interests of the children. For data gathering various techniques and instruments were used such as, observation notes, reflective diaries, photographic material and the gathering of creations made by the children. The intervention enabled the conclusion that the reading and exploration of stories stimulates the imagination, favors the development of language and communication and challenges the emergent writing behaviors of the children’s. |
