Participaram neste estudo 158 pacientes,
respondendo aos seguintes questionários: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Ways of
Coping, Spiritual and Religious Attitudes in Dealing with Illness, Barthel Index, Family
Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales e Quality of Life-Alzheimer Disease.
A escolaridade, morbilidade psicológica, funcionalidade e satisfação
familiar previram a qualidade de vida. A satisfação familiar e comunicação familiar
Regarding the elderly with Alzheimer's disease, it’s known that with the evolution of the disease, their quality of life will be deteriorating. We studied how the sociodemographic and psychological variables predicted and moderated the quality of life of patients with Alzheimer’s disease at an early stage. The sample consisted of 158 patients that answered the following questionnaires: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Ways of Coping, Spiritual and Religious Attitudes in Dealing with Illness, Barthel Index, Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales and Quality of Life-Alzheimer Disease. The results revealed that education, functionality and family variables (satisfaction, communication and functioning) were positively correlated with the quality of life. Psychological morbidity and spirituality correlated negatively with the quality of life. Education, psychological morbidity, functionality and family satisfaction predicted the quality of life. Family satisfaction and family communication moderated the relationship between psychological morbidity and quality of life. The coping (problem-focused and emotion-focused) moderated the relationship between family functioning and quality of life. |
