Assim, a informação
fiscal. The influence of taxation issues in accounting is studied internationally. Regarding the existing practices in Europe, there is a separation between countries of Anglo-Saxon influence and countries of continental influence. The countries in the first group are characterized by having a tax and accounting system that sets the limits of performance and the countries in the second group have a prescriptive and detailed legislation. Portugal is among those of continental influence and is governed by accounting (accounting and financial reporting standards) and fiscal (tax code on income of legal persons) regulations. Small and medium enterprises represent more than 95% of the Portuguese business. They are family businesses, whose owners are also the managers and the source of financing is the bank. For these companies, accounting is not yet seen as the basis for taking management decisions. The financial information is prepared mainly to comply with legal and tax obligations. Therefore, this dissertation analyzes the relationship between accounting and taxation in Portugal in the context of small and medium sized enterprises. The main findings from this study indicate that companies which subcontract accounting services are more likely to adopt tax criteria and that there is a connection between the adopted policies and tax result minimization. |
